For any itch outside of the face, retired astronaut Clayton Anderson explained, “You shake, rattle and roll, baby! That’s the only thing really that you can do to alleviate that itch. Hopefully, between the incredibly bulky and stiff suit itself and the liquid cooling garment you are wearing beneath the suit, you can wiggle your body enough to effectively scratch that itch!” Want the text version?: http://www.todayifoundout.com/index.php/2016/01/astronaut-itch-space-suit-like-face-itch/ Sources: https://www.nasa.gov/audience/foreducators/spacesuits/home/clickable_suit_nf.html#.VlzdVWSrTL8 http://www.nasa.gov/topics/moonmars/features/hatsman.html http://mentalfloss.com/article/52987/how-do-astronauts-scratch-their-noses-space-walks https://books.google.com/books?id=MEW8BgAAQBAJ&pg=PA20&lpg=PA20&dq=If+an+astronaut+has+an+itch+when+in+a+space+suit,+like+on+their+face,+how+do+they+itch+it?&source=bl&ots=zmSnAmj3KC&sig=aSuFwp16YUMBmP4f5SeeGRpv3xM&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwi2h__uirnJAhUJ1mMKHa43Cko4ChDoAQgbMAA#v=onepage&q=If%20an%20astronaut%20has%20an%20itch%20when%20in%20a%20space%20suit%2C%20like%20on%20their%20face%2C%20how%20do%20they%20itch%20it%3F&f=false http://www.space.com/11806-nasa-spacewalk-astronauts-spacesuits-pain.html https://www.quora.com/What-would-astronauts-do-if-their-faces-itch-when-theyre-in-spacesuits http://www.armaghplanet.com/blog/top-20-awesome-facts-about-space.html http://www.nasa.gov/audience/forstudents/k-4/stories/what-is-a-spacesuit-k4_prt.htm http://www.space.com/11806-nasa-spacewalk-astronauts-spacesuits-pain.html https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luca_Parmitano http://www.spaceflightnow.com/station/exp36/16eva/index2.html#.Ueb7-qyd_z4/

If I was on a spacewalk for 5 to 8 hours without a restroom, "that itch" would be the least of my discomforts.
-
Watching a video about itching made me itch all over.

What about an astronaut who caught a cold and kept sneezing :P

What if an astronaut farts in their space suit?
-
Yes, but what we all really want to know is what to do with a fart in a spacesuit ;) ;)

I read the title and giggled. Ignoring the pain of an itch... even in space, the struggle is real.

I've said it before but I'm gonna say it again; I enjoyed this video and learned a thing or two! I love your work Simon and crew, so keep it up, you! =D

I have never heard anyone ask about his before. Although, it does not surprise me that NASA as a plan for it. They have a plan for everything.

I have always wondered about this

great! Just a bonus fact: In space suits (or even naked) you won't freeze for a very long time due to the fact that there's nothing out there that could conduct the heat energy away, thus it stays in and you comfy (though, if naked, you will die from one of several other causes).

this has always bothered me :D
