Homemade Mission to Mars by Tom Sachs
About | Information | History | Online | Facts | Discovery
Artist Tom Sachs has recreated an entire four week mission to Mars with nothing but household objects. Working with Nasa and Jet Propulsion Laboratory, his studio created go-kart rovers, wooden rockets, and space sculptures. All of this makes his Park Ave. Armory (NYC) live show "Space Program: Mars" quite the adventure. Ironically, in an age when space programs are taken for granted of, people are also becoming less and less actually interested in it because of the amount of fancy tech that goes in it just doesn't hold people's short attention spans. This goes back to the actual heart of real space programs, underneath all that shine; the actual journey that all those involve go through and the creativity and ingenuity needed. This is literally the ultimate cardboard spaceship experience we had as children.
