Green Lasers Vs. Red Lasers: Which are Better?
About | Information | History | Online | Facts | Discovery
I get this question a lot, "Are green or red lasers better?" This video covers the main difference between hobby level green and red lasers. Here are a couple extra notes: This video was shot in fog. Green lasers are a very complex system so you are more likely to find problems with these. Red lasers are simple so problems are less common. Those cheap "200mW" rated green laser pointers you see on Amazon or cheap Chinese sites for under $50 are never even close to 200mW of actual output. GOGGLES ARE REQUIRED WHEN USING LASERS OVER 5mW! If you cannot afford goggles, do NOT mess with strong lasers. Watch for an epic laser demo coming up soon! I'll give you a hint: class IV blue lasers! You didn't try burning with the green laser

Fookin lazer sights

Why not do some vs laser videos with your yellow laser pointer

Cool

Greens are better for laser sights. Human eyes are most sensitive in the yellow to green part of the spectrum, and least sensitive to red.

i have a 500mW green laser shipping to me will it burn through things?

don't cross the streams !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's hit and miss with the cheap stuff. 2 greens for under $10 each.... one ended up being over 200 mW, and the other one might be only 20 mW...

I think Green lasers are great for burning aswell... overall green lasers are actually better than red for those who don't know.

Here's an interesting question: For a personal firearm, the two options as of now are red and green. I live in quite a cold climate, and the operating range of the green laser is listed as 40-100 degrees Fahrenheit. It can get to under 0F here. Though the weapon (and the laser to a degree) would be underneath my clothing against my thigh (with a synthetic holster between the weapon and my skin), do you think it would still get too cold to operate effectively if it were green? Would the green visibility in that circumstance still be better than red would be despite its wider operating range?
I want to be sure, because in the event I need to use it, the stakes are far too high for me to have failing equipment.
And as sad as it would be, I'm sure you'd rather have a fellow laser enthusiast around than whoever tried to kill me...
One last question: Are there any lasers powerful enough to allow me to forego a gun entirely? -
