Gran Turismo 2 Interview with Kazunori Yamauchi
About | Information | History | Online | Facts | Discovery
This is the old Playstation Underground Gran Turismo 2 Interview with Kazunori Yamauchi. It gives you a look at the detail and work the director had done on the game and only a hint of how much more work he had to do in later games as consoles became more advanced. This man has lived out his dream, and fans are grateful for it. I'm no car or racing enthusiast, but him and the game have definitely garnered my respect.

I meant that it looked terrible in its beta state. I like graphics of the finished version-

Interesting Interview! Good to see how they worked back in the day for GT2.. ;)
Yes, we all know that now in 2014, the graphics of GT2 aren't the best xD But back in 1999/2000 it was one of the best looking Car/Racing games out there... :D
Nowadays, for me ( and I think as well for a couple of others GT fans ) it stays the best GT of all time... ;)
So much great cars in GT2 that never came back after this game... -
@BlueDragon992 oh right... lol! Damn my portuguese-new jersey accent.

@SpirtualSuzie What the heck is a "fanboy"?

@livingspiral It's really hard to improve a nearly perfected gameplay element. At this point it's a matter of keeping up that quality in control and great graphics as well as licensed cars. The creator of the game also wanted to do things like show damage to cars physical look and realistic collisions, but automakers wouldn't allow it. If you want something that GT doesn't offer, you'll have to go to a series like Need for speed, but then you miss out on what made GT so great.
