Iv'e never heard of Indian food requiring olive oil before. It has too much of a distinct (olive) flavour that does not form part of Indian cuisine so clarified butter (or Ghee) is used mostly.

Indians do not eat pork because you cannot get quality and clean pork in India. There was tradition of hunting wild boar and eating. Many communities still eat pork. But quality is questionable. Pigs are reared in unhygienic conditions and you can get tapeworms. Not worth the risk. I hope they start rearing quality hogs.
