Future in Space Hangout: Space Astronomy in the 2020's and Beyond
About | Information | History | Online | Facts | Discovery
Are we alone in the Universe? Are other Earth-like worlds common? Do any have signs of life? How did life emerge from a lifeless cosmic beginning? Curious humans have asked these questions for millennia, but for the first time we can foresee actually answering them. With the right technology, and the right telescope, we could soon search nearby exoplanets for signs of life, and tell the cosmic story of how this life came to be. Please join +Tony Darnell Dr.+Alberto Conti and Dr. Harley Thronson as we discuss the future of space astronomy in the 2020's and beyond with Dr. Marc Postman and Dr. Jason Tumlinson of the Space Telescope Science Institute. As always, we welcome your questions and comments! #Astronomy #HDST #WFIRST #AURA #Cosmology #Exoplanets Read more here: http://www.hdstvision.org/report/

just like CLUSTER II / SOHO, why should we not want a number (6) of telescopes that act like a single one. they could be launched fe 2 months apart and use coordinated observation.

How to fit a huge aperture telescope into an extant rocket faring? Roll it up like a Tortilla! Brilliant!

another great hangout tony, nice to see alberto again. also a big thank you to your guests.

I am a retired convenience store clerk. I am a bits and pieces collector. I believe this gives me a more central vantage point between astral and particle physics. I have four questions for you.
1. Was there an ice moon in orbit around the impactor that created our moon?
2. Was this ice moon left behind by Saturn or Jupiter as they moved from their old orbits to the orbits they have now?
3. Was this ice moon like a water balloon due to gravitational interaction between the three objects?
4. Was the impact site for this ice moon the North American Great Lakes area?
These may have a bearing on life on other planets. -
Are you guy Religious? Curious
-
Thank you for the knowledge. You guys are the real heros.
-
You're awesome, man. I hope you never stop making videos :) love them!

I personally think the JWST will blow doors, requiring a new look at all future projects, which will have to be re-vamped in light of its discoveries. Don't believe me? Talk to you in three and a half years! H-ha!

I THINK OUR GOALS SHOULD BE:
#1 COLONIZE MARS
#2 COLONIZE MOONS AROUND SATURN
#3 COLONIZE EARTHS MOON
#4 COLONIZE MOONS AROUND JUPITER
#5 COLONIZE ALL STARS IN 30 LIGHT YEARS AROUND OUR SYSTEM
#6 COLONIZE ENTIRE MILKY WAY GALAXY OVER THE NEXT 100 MILLION YEARS
#7 COLONIZE ENTIRE UNIVERSE IN THE NEXT 100 BILLION YEARS -
Large Hadron Collider is the science project that generates the most data - one petabyte of data every day ! http://home.web.cern.ch/about/computing "At peak rates, 10 gigabytes of data may be transferred from its servers every second"

you are alone guys, did you knew ?
-
I just appreciate this new astronomy channel thanks Tony and all his colleagues for spending their time to help educate and entertain all!
-
missed it sorry
-
Just got here, sorry I'm so late guys.
-
That's a shame, I'm going out for some night sky observing now. I'm gonna watch replay guys.
