FPV Review: Awful landing gear/legs for a DJI F450/550
About | Information | History | Online | Facts | Discovery
My new gimbal needed some extra space under the frame than my 2-axis one, so I tried these legs out.... mucho regret. Of course, I could be doing it all wrong, so if you have had a great experience with similar legs, please let me know what I'm doing wrong.

I bought the same set of legs for my F450 Flamewheel, the pendulum effect at the lower end was extremely bad.
Looks like they are coming off tomorrow!! -
For what it's worth.. This isn't as much problem on a 550 hex, as you're attaching the landing gear to the bottom-plate where it's much more rigid & supported by the arm mounting points. On the 450 however, it's easy to see how it's a big of a jelly mounted on a sponge effect. :-)

I will try, i got same lading gear. It is clear that way how its connected will induce such behavior. So the only solution would be either slide as far to center of f450 mounting point (instead as far from center how you did it) or find stiffer dampeners. Well I have CNC and will see what I can do.

Got the same landing gear and it works perfectly for me.

I purchased similar legs to these and the vibration was unreal.
I would recommend either:

or

I have the second and understand some fabrication is required on an F450 to use the Aeroxcraft legs, but both are solid. Adds some weight, but solid design. -
Well you are learning that like all obvious that a lot of this eBay bang good hobby king stuff is not all that great.
Hi spent hours and dollars trying to resolve vibration issues with the 450 and an 800 millimeter hexa copter that I built specifically for filming.
My suggestion is to mount your gimbal to the actual frame of the 450 independent of what landing area using.
Then all you will need to do is to make sure that the gimbaled is properly vibration isolated from the frame. It is critical on any multirotor to balance the props and motors the very best you can.
I don't know that that will help but you might want to try it.

Hi Wayne, Nancy does not have a clue about anything you may ask her, that much is obvious. Long dangling legs will aggravate oscillation of any kind. The fact that they are soft mounted, actually makes it worse, not better. This is why on high end multis, they have retracting legs, so they don't dangle below the C of G. I'm really surprised you Multi-rotor lovers don't have propeller balancers. Prop and motor imbalance is a killer on a multi-rotor machine and it is something you should pay much closer attention to. If you have to resort to anti "Jello" Camera mounts, then its because your motor / prop combination is out of balance. Each motor / prop should be balanced individually. Even a cheapo prop balancer will give you a result if you use it right. I start by static balancing the prop, sanding the heavy blade, and then fit it to the motor shaft, checking the prop hub is running true to the motors shaft. Run each motor up with the prop on it (one at a time) and lightly hold the motors base so you can feel any imbalance. If there is any, loosen the prop nut and rotate the prop a little and keep doing it until it runs in the sweet spot. Repeat for the other 3 Rotors. Remember, vibration has an adverse effect on all of the machine, not just the Camera, and in particular the giros. Treat the cause, not the symptom. Balancing a miniature Gas Turbine rotor that runs at 180,000 rpm requires dynamic balancing. Balancing 4 electric motors and props is simple by comparison, but both are essential. Hope this helps, it may not cure it completely, but you might be surprised by the improvement it provides.

Awww! I had exactly the same landing gears on my F450 when i started to try brushless gimbal, i had exactly the same issue with the wobbles and it had also a disastrous effect on my flight time and my LIPO :(
I put it in gargages maybe 2 weeks after receiving it lol
Well, we can not win them all like someone said to me few weeks ago!
Thanks for sharing and have a great weekend -
That looks totally crap! In that instruction exploded view are they called Fecal Hobby?
-
Thanks for the tip!

had the exact same legs from a different seller, absolute rubbish never could get them to stop wobbling, tried all sorts of ways to mount them, gave up and went back to the stock spider legs. Hows the gimbal? my cheapo Chinese gimbal is also rubbish lol have tried all sorts to set it up but have given up on that too.

ROFL @ the reply get someone skilled to help ..................... Priceless ! !

At least your not dealing with zerouav, LOL! a hammer will fix that landing gear.

Hahaha, Those replies from the ebay seller are so funny.
I brought the same legs a year ago, some of the rubber bungs were missing, the seller decided to give me £9 to go away. lol
