Can Female Astartes Exist? Here's the info regarding the sisters of purification, a Rogue Trader era female space marine force: http://changemodomega.tumblr.com/post/142533525908/first-edition-40k-canon-female-space-marines NOTE!: Due to the amount of idiots who are messaging me death threats and abuse about this episode, I just want to point out the following: This is NOT 'female astartes need to exist' it's CAN female astartes exist within the context of the lore. The Daemonculaba are some of the most horrible things I've ever seen!

Are there such a thing as female (loyalist) space marines? The answer; very, very highly unlikely... but possible. See, what makes you male and female is not just chromosomes, but hormones, mostly testosterone, in the womb that cause the fetus to change and either develop male genitalia and characteristics, or remain female (as all fetuses start out as female) which occurs early in the second trimester. Now there is a condition called AIS (androgen insensitivity syndrome) where although a fetus has XY chromosomes, the fetus never got that surge of testosterone that causes those changes, and thus the fetus remains female and is born female, or mostly female. So, in theory, these women can become space marines, though the likelyhood of that happening is likely next to impossible as all chapters probably have policies in place to kill any female found among the aspirants on sight, though some chapters may accept them in cases of emergency and/or severe loss of numbers to try to fill the ranks, but of course that is a very big IF. That and this is fairly uncommon anyway, with scientists estimating that this occurs 1 in 20,000 people. Coincidently I can't help but wonder if any aspirants that suffered the worst symptoms of geneseed rejection had de la Chapelle syndrome, where males are born with XX?

This is something I was challenged upon time and time again. It is indeed possible due not only due to genetic altering of human being subjects, but also of geneseed. This was not covered here. At least I don't think, I had to divide my attention for a moment.
First off we've seen all kinds of human beings evolved over time on their varied worlds, but as well we've seen gene seed evolve from host to host via the prognoids. Keep in mind two of these are able to be collected from each fallen Astartes and thus as they help make the other gene seed for two Marines to come, that info is added to the pile and thus the gene seed future. Through this, gene seed evolves, and if you think it doesn't, well, you see even the all mighty Ultra Marines, and others, have some gene seed that didn't even properly make it... ANd the boys in blue are suppose to be the poster boys of the Imperium.
How about another example? Between the human subjects, the geneseed, and chemical reactions of their homeworld, all of the Salamanders are jet black skinned with bright redeyes. Now if that's not to say something of what can evolve with geneseed, I don't know what is.
Another matter to bring up is that various Chapters ALSO have various ways of ACTIVATING geneseed and thus alter by this method alone to add to the variables. Space Wolves activate it with a wolf's bane concoction while the Blood Angels do it differently with blood of the Primarch of their Chapter with blood renewed by a bit of blood letting from certain members of their Brothers to keep said Chalice full. They drink some of it in ceremony and you can be certain this has it's own impacts.
And all this isn't counting the fact that in the early days, men who were too old for the Astartes process were given a very close make over which in a way was partly touched upon.
Anyhow, with all these variables, even in matters in the art of Replicae, aka cloning, and a case they were going to make a mutated horrible clone of Sanguinus thereis much changes that can be made. To believe that in all this its not possible is a fool's belief. Hell, we're getting to the point in the current age to decide what children are likely to become and can be manipulated, you think nothing of the likes of adaptation was to be done with gene seed?
The reality of such is you may have already seen such. You already have Chapters that utterly refuse to show their faces, to anyone, and even threaten death on their own fellow Chapters if they dare remove the armor of one of their own to even save them upon being close to death. They would rather die than expose the secret of their appearance to fellow Chapters. One of the Blood Angels novels in fact would alert you to this as one of their later founding Chapters threatened that they would kill any of the actual Blood Angels themselves if they removed the armor of a dying Marine, even to save him.
Others will use the excuse further however of; Oh, but every Chapter must send some of their geneseed back for inspection with the Imperium! Please, you think every last Chapter is STILL accounted for? More so, do you think this kind of genetic mastery wouldn't save them from this? Or the more blatant obvious answer, with all the picking people make for gene seed and Marines future, you don't think that maybe, just maybe, they just keep those sample gene seeds closely looked over and basically using the same mastery that the common dog or horse breeder uses to keep a pure line to keep for sending in and testing to get them off the hook?
In the matter of genetics and mutation, there's also the big factor that helps make these things come to pass. Be it through knowledge, chance, or many other factors. The one thing that makes fools of us all and descendants of legacy its self... Time...
The Emperor himself had much. Untold centuries we believe... The universe has had tens of thousands of years, and so have generations since.
Also what would make you think that, with these genetic changes, one's entire Chapter must be female to have this possibility? Much of the possibility of why things never get specified against the possibility in lore is that it may be something that is not to be spoken of, as such things are quite common, such as the very two unknown primarchs they are all to never speak of for they are to be forgotten and by now not to be ever known. Such is their erasure from Imperial history, just as others like the Soul Drinkers have been erased since.
From my point of view of a man of sci fi, a man of 40K lore study, and somone who was a Chapter Master of a custom Chapter populated by several peers that I ran for 5 years, I tell you the possibility not only remains, but those who would rather not address the complication among outsiders of their own, have likely been, and simply keep themselves as one of the many millions of secrets, that astartes Chapters as a whole, simply have kept as they have kept tens of thousands of years.
The Emperor's chosen comes in many forms, more forms than will likely be known by many short of those who have looked into the Black Library in it's entirety and somehow not have lost their mind too it.
Not all of them, so many of them, will also not be welcomed among the Imperium in the open even. But they are their, weather you would believe them, or not. -

wonder how many feminist pussies this just shriveled

I don't think their should as it would need to screw up lore, I am a sucker for lore and get mad at inaccuracies. In halo, mass effect and star wars I feel lore is paramount and if it gets wreaked I abandon the franchise as the creators have lost respect. For example Halo 5 lore rewrites to make new plots which were ultimately shit. Whipping out the EU of star wars to make way for a mixed bag movie. So even if the conjured up a lore accuse it would be half arsed like a bad fan fic.

Maybe the Emperor just liked the buff quarterback aesthetic? - no homo of course.

Really enjoyed listening to this while I paint some stealth suits. Thanks for the upload and Happy Holidays!

Wait, I don't understand the purpose of this video.
Space Marines have always been male. Then someone complained to Games Workshop so they made up a reason why female Space Marines couldn't exist. There was no real reason for there not to be female Space Marines before that. Only male Astartes was a stylistic choice, and therefore the lore will be changed as many times as necessary to keep it like that. Would you prefer that female Space Marines be outlawed by the lore like male Sisters of Battle?
Besides, if you truly care that much just create your own models. There's nothing stopping you. -
What's the intro song?

What about the Sisters of Battle...!!!!

So glad this video was made to show how full of shitlords the 40k universe. It needs strong independent feminist space marines to fight the rape culture and micro aggressions.
Seriously tho fucking hell, glad i never subbed this channel -
I've never understand why GW don't make female Space Marine, and I'm talking about pure (don't know how to said)...politic ?
I mean, why did they find a lore explanation for no-female Space Marine, wasn't more simple to just say :
''Well, there is male and female in Space Marine, you do what you want, if you want an entire SM army with girl, then put female head under the mask, it's not like you can see the gender of someone under an armor of that size. Good painting !!!''
Never understand that fact. It's not sexism because in the other faction you can have female and respect the lore (like the Eldar, the Tau, and the Imperial Guard) and I hope it's not that.
After all it's not like the Warhammer 40k fanbases will yelling heresy in they change that...no ? -
Who the 'ell was sending the chap death threats? You lot are worst than the extremist SJW. Ease up ya gits. Know your enemy.... it's the xenos. For the Omnissiah. eshh. Sorry you for the chitstorm. ty for the vids.

In a nutshell, yes, there theoretically could be a female counterpart to the Adeptes Astartes (Sorores Astartes?), if--and this is a big IF--the creators of the Astartes' gene-seeds had created female equivalents. While the Sorores wouldn't be physically as strong or as large as the Astartes, they would be faster and more agile to take advantage of women being smaller and lighter as a rule than men, and would probably use lighter armor that is designed less for a brute-force assault and more for speed, mobility, and possibly stealth. IMHO, the Sorores would probably be even deadlier than the Astartes simply because (a) most men assume that women aren't good fighters and often learn too late that women can be even deadlier than men and (b) the Sorores' training would include tactics and psychological warfare techniques designed to take advantage of male psychology (I.e. show the dumb jocks your boobs in battle, and then cut them to shreds while they're busy staring at your cleavage -_^).
I can't see there being as many chapters of Sorores as Astartes, but if they existed, they'd make one hell of a special forces-type unit, held in reserve as a surprise against susceptible enemies. -
this video gave me heresy
