Today Phil explains that YES, there are other planets out there and astonomers have a lot of methods for detecting them. Nearly 2000 have been found so far. The most successful method is using transits, where a planet physically passes in front of its parent star, producing a measurable dip in the star’s light. Another is to measuring the Doppler shift in a star’s light due to reflexive motion as the planet orbits. Exoplanets appear to orbit nearly every kind of star, and we’ve even found planets that are the same size as Earth. We think there may be many billions of Earth-like planets in our galaxy. Poor stupid scientists don't you understand that God can do ANYTHING. That is why HE is GOD. But because you do not believe there is a GOD that is why you do not understand things that you should. God form planets where and when HE want to. You do not know how the planets formed so you come up with your "theories" and because you have PHD or whatever letters behind or in front of your name you think you got it right but you don't. Yours are just theories and since you were not there when God made these things you have not clue on how they got the way they are. You ask people to have faith in what you say but you have no faith when it comes to God. You are only seeing what God have made and HE call you fools because HE says, "the fool has said there is no God". Can a house come to be without a builder? Can a car just come into being all by itself without a car designer? The answer is no. But you want us to believe that stars just happened all by themselves without God having anything to do with it. I be glad when the day comes when you find stars that are bigger then Neptune's orbit around the the sun and one day you will find one because God can't be put into a box. He Himself says is anything to hard for God. The answer is NO

um, what about planets that orbit stars that dont cross a dead on plane with our telescopes? it seems like we can only detect the ones that fall on the edge of a knife

Given the amount of galaxies, stars inside these galaxies and possible planets in each of their solar systems there HAS to be other life out there. Other sentient life. The idea of advanced (or primitive) civilisations existing somewhere in the vast reaches of space gives me chills. What i'd give to be alive when we finally confirm that to be true.
