after 2 hours HOLY SHIT I FUCKING WANT TO DIE I HATE THIS GAME I HOPE SEAN MURRAY DROWNS IN HIS OWN PISS WHY THE FUCK CAN'T I REFUND THIS I HATE IT SO MUCH -
Honestly you didnt have to spend 3 minutes describing the pace of normal games to us, giving a summary would be nicer

I don't agree and I think your model has it backwards concerning NMS. It's the first hours of the game that's the best. Just check the walkthru videos of other youtubers - with commentary. Mining resources so that you can take off and fly for the first time, escaping your origin planet and going to your 2nd and maybe 3rd planet and then going onto another star system, is where the game lives up to the hype. Beyond that, that's where the game has problems. Another problem is the randomness of the game - procedural generation. It took 2 days of solid playing to get all three atlas passes while other players got them much earlier. And the last creature to scan is fucking diabolical - that took, easily, hours to complete per planet and that is one of the things I hate about the game. The randomness of the game has to be addressed and changed - making timely progress so that you're not THAT frustrated. After a solid week of playing - it's only just now that I've got the theta warp drive. At this point I'm ready to give up because there are so many other games coming out, and I'm also looking at the xbox to see what's going on over there.

Good vid I just don't agree with your last point that the game is average at beat because I enjoy no mans sky quite a bit I find it to be a great game I think a better statement would have been the game isn't what everyone expected but is still enjoyable for some gamers other than that great vid dude

You may not have finished the game. The "ending" is the biggest reason not to waste your time.

This was a really interesting video, not just about No Man's Sky, but the key indicators of good game pacing.

I play this game and I do like it, but what you said in this video is true. When I started out I was like..."oh god this is just grind." A little bit later I went into space and it got a little better. Until the next planet was one of those with harsh environment and no surviving capabilities. So I left that planet as fast as I could. After that I was aimlessly wandering around the galaxy, not knowing what to do exactly. I started telling stories on my twitch channel about it. Making up a bunch of random stuff and sharing laughs with those in chat.
This is what makes the game fun to me. It's relaxed and I can screw around with it for some entertainment value. Giving planets, creatures and plants stupid juvenile names is one thing, but creating a whole silly story behind it just awesome. Then again I have a degree as a game designer so it's kind of what I do. I do get why most people dislike it, I also feel the price should have been around 40€ instead of 60€. Especially since I just have "self invented fun" with it instead of playing it seriously and trying to get to the center of the galaxy. Yet i also believe the developers will add more and more stuff to the game as the years progress. (if it's not dead by then of course) -
Great critique. This game didnt lived up to the hype. I thought it would be a starbound like game but sadly not. If this was actually multiplayer I would have bought this game already.
This is one of those games I would buy in a steam winter/summer sale. -
Thank you for confirming my fears and saving me 60 yankee greenbacks
-
Nice critique - I like your production style. I thought the game was so-so as well. Shame.
-
hey, man, I dunno what you're talkin' about, I love full priced early access titles. Flawless.

This Game is Very Good Friend Like👍

So, what I'm gathering from this video is No Man's Sky is essentially Minecraft with space travel and shittier game mechanics? Well, from what the developers have been saying about it before it's release, it's clear they didn't really deliver. I think this will be a game that I skip. Great video though. Still more than willing to collaborate on some content in the very near future. :)
