Welcome to Wormhole Fundamentals, a video walkthrough series from Adhocracy Inc. that will explain each facet of wormholes and their mechanics in the Eve Online universe. In the Odyssey expansion, some types of exploration sites underwent huge changes. Previously, there were Magnetometric and Radar sites. Now, there are Relic and Data sites. Relic and Data sites can be found in both K-space and W-space. They must be scanned down using scanner probes. It can be very difficult to do so, especially in W-space. Solid scanning skills are recommended. Both K-space and W-space Relic and Data sites use the new hacking and analyzing mechanic, but there are a few important differences: 1. Firstly, K-space Relic and Data sites have no hostile NPCs protecting them. In W-space, Relic and Data sites still have several waves of hostile Sleepers protecting them and are typically harder than anomalies, if only slightly. The sleepers have not changed from the Magnetometric and Radar sites pre-odyssey, so any guides for those sites will still be relevant. 2. Secondly, W-space Relic and Data sites drop materials relevant to Tech 3 production, and K-space sites do not. 3. Thirdly, W-space Relic and Data sites are very hard to analyze or hack. While pilots with hacking and analyzing skills at any level CAN succeed if they are lucky, you'll be sitting around for a long time if you don't have at least hacking or analyzing 4. Bonused ships are also very helpful. 4. Lastly, In K-space, Relic and Data cans will de-spawn if you fail to hack them too many times. In W-space, they will stick around until the site despawns or you open them. We do have a few tips about running Relic and Data sites in W-space: Make sure you have cleared all the spawns before you begin hacking. Be aware that there is one site that requires you to successfully hack a can before the third wave will spawn. Make sure you know if you're in that site, or things could go...badly The Echelon is the best hacking ship you can find. The only ship that gets better bonuses to hacking is a covert ops frigate with covops V, rigs, and a t2 hacker or analyzer. If you are willing to risk putting an Echelon out in open space, it can really speed things up. Thanks to the new scanning overlay, it's a lot easier to figure out if someone is at a data or relic site, and thanks to the rest of the scanning overhaul it's a lot easier to find them. Now more than ever, be vigilant while doing PvE in W-space, watch out for probes, and be ready to fight for your prize. Relic and Data sites will sometimes de-spawn if there is nobody in them and all of the sleepers have been cleared. They may also de-spawn if you hack some but not all of the cans and then leave. Try not to leave the site empty until you have plundered it completely. Free 21 day Trial: https://secure.eveonline.com/trial/?invc=1037463c-9c47-4ab2-bef3-5e652fdf50ce&action=buddy
