Widespread Panic's iconic first album is one full of top-notch jams, charm, and fun. While at first the production is a little off-putting, you soon listen past it and begin to fall in love with how these songs make you feel. The only thing left to be desired for us is perhaps a little bit more variety in attitude and mood throughout the tracks, and maybe some of the lyrics; these factors limit the album a bit. However, this is still a great listen and a must have for anyone into blues, bass, chicken, guitar, or just having a good time. What's your favorite Widepread Panic album? Why? Hey guys, I think this is a pretty honest and good review and I enjoyed it. I love a lot of music and have been listening to this band for over 20 years. I'd recommend that you listen to Light Fuse Get Away as a live album and Til The Medicine Takes as a studio album. Their studio albums are often points of departure that are built upon over years. Since they have been live streaming their shows on MIXLR direct from soundboard there is an amazing amount of really great sounding material out there. Keep up the good work!

Chicken is not code for cocain, cont. blues is about tripping, john bell used to eat a ton of mushrooms, john keene talks about john tripping and climbing a tree to eat kfc and the song kinda came from that

As a fan of panic for 12 years now I loved this review. I actually teared up a lil when yall went into the nostalgia of growing up with the band and how big a part of some people's lives wsp is. They are taking a hiatus right now so this came a nice time. Thanks so much for the review. I'd love to see more. This is my first time seeing one of yall reviews and I plan to subscribe. I enjoy your reviews, But PLEASE.................Never Compare Panic to Kansas........The song Heaven is a cover of a Talking Heads song........I think you guys would love the Talking Heads album Remain in the Light.......Definitely an all timer!

@PeyoteBrunch That's understandable. I'm glad you took the time to listen to this one, though. I recommend giving it a couple more spins (can you use that phrase in the realm of digital music?), I willing to bet it will grow on you a bit more, even. Very true about them having such a wide discography that it's hard to know where to start. I guess that's why it's a good idea to just start at the beginning, right?
