Anyone who expresses a more definitive response to the question is claiming access to knowledge not based on empirical foundations. This remarkably persistent way of thinking, common to most religions and some branches of philosophy, has failed badly in past efforts to understand, and thereby predict the operations of the universe and our place within it. To assert that the universe has a purpose implies the universe has intent. And intent implies a desired outcome. But who would do the desiring? And what would a desired outcome be? That carbon-based life is inevitable? Or that sentient primates are life's neurological pinnacle? Are answers to these questions even possible without expressing a profound bias of human sentiment? Of course humans were not around to ask these questions for 99.9999% of cosmic history. Dawkins purpose is to take a swipe at the Christian God and hit Islam because Islam is dangerous today. Never mind that god is anything and everything man can manufacture in his psyche. Man made God and incomplete scientific knowledge arguments about either entity is a waste of time. Is it good to believe? Simply from my own perspective, it appears the common misunderstanding is often the mystery and esoteric propaganda and indoctrination. lol. I often hear the one side say god can't be scientifically proven, you can't see him, and when the religious try to contest this they offer nothing more than "well he is there! I just know it."
But by the abrahamic faiths, God tells you where to find him and what he looks like. several times. lol.
read the book! stop listening some asshole on a stage putting on a show, and read t book for yourself! and don't stop there. Read the books not in the standard. and yes, read about the basic sciences, will you. even in the book, he tells you that you perish for lack of knowledge. ignorance isn't an excuse, not in the court of your God, nor in a debate in secular court. You don't have to know everything. But know what you are. know what your title entails. represent your God as you hope to be represented before him.
Science.
It would not hurt you to read their books. learn and know them. understand them. Many of you are so full of knowledge, there is no way you could thoroughly read word for word every book and not glean wisdom to steer and steel that knowledge. don't think you understand everything through logic because you can watch a tree grow. study history. all the history you can. sate that hole with knowledge and wisdom, the two are like matter and energy together. one without the other is just plain tasteless.

I think there is a time for all things.

I also witness most observations claimed by science. I don't say what is, is not. Albeit, I have yet to witness many things. and I also recognize theory and fact are often proven wrong or improved greatly upon. Discernment is a tool that was made to be used.
