That's not enough space for air flow. Solar panels will generate heat underneath . You need more space between roof and panel.

I am by no means an expert on the topic of roofing - I've only installed 75 sq ft of shingles and 250 sq ft of EPDM - but I'm fairly certain this isn't an acceptable method of roof penetration. The caulk doesn't appear to be the tar-based roofing caulk that has the best lifespan in roofing applications. Also, I'd be willing to bet that after 1-2 years of expansions/contractions due to temperature, that caulk no longer seals those holes adequately - have you had any complaints of leaks?

not that I know of...I just took 2 seperate systems and combined...you could go to "ABOUTSOLARCELLS.COMXA.COM" and get ideas...thats where all mine come from.
