This is a DIY solar 5 kW system that was installed in 2010 as a weekend project. I built this with 2 other people in two days, from the roof penetrations to the installation of the panels. An electrician connected the wiring and hooked the inverter into the grid. Specifications on the system: Panels: Suntech 230 Watt UL listed Grade A panels Inverter: SMA SunnyBoy 6 kW Inverter Racking/Mounting: Unistrut (heavy duty) Here is my DIY Solar and Wind book that was published on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1508454310/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=1508454310&linkCode=as2&tag=erilaysyoucha-20&linkId=URNF3DPORKY4M5YR Barnes and Noble Nook version of my DIY Solar and Wind Book: http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/books/1121302120?ean=2940151676939&itm=1&usri=2940151676939 This is a great book on Amazon that I would recommend you pick up to understand solar power (this is the 2013 edition and is great reading): http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1907670289/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=1907670289&linkCode=as2&tag=erilaysyoucha-20 This is the Grape Solar Panel that I am particularly fond of (many people sending me messages): http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CAVMMMG/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B00CAVMMMG&linkCode=as2&tag=erilaysyoucha-20

You installed $10,000 dollars worth of solar using $200 hardware, that isn't stainless steal, which means after one year it will begin rusting and after more years will need to be replaced. Great job. I'm not going to mention that it probably took your crew twice as long to install this array than industry standards.
