Nice setup I must say .. however I would user thicker wires leading from the panels, and yes I know the voltage is high but I still believe you lost a lot due to those small wires, I am talking about the seven wires from the panels. I would use double that size you would be surprised of the result.

the greatest challenge in solar system is power storage since the batteries must be changed every 3years

There is a really good guide on http://geni.us/thelostways about survival that goes well with this

hi there when you, up grade your solar panels save money to redo your roof ,, it looks to only have around 8 years or less tell you have to redo the roof ,, look into metal sheathing with ceramic covering or m3 rubber paint because ,, it would be a pain to fix a roof leak if the shingals give out . just saying yes I hurd you say you live in calaforina you still have to look out for mostar and wind , spell check please..

there is constant power coming in from grid, this is my question how is the the power been produce by the panels don't interfere with the power coming in from the grid?
-
What's the cost?

Enjoyed the video. You have good information and answered several questions for me. As far as questions did you give any consideration to the elevation of the solar panels for maximum solar gain to produce the optimum power?
-
thanks for interesting information and tips for solar.. got so many questions but I'll just read the comments.. anyway great job..

Great detail you answered all my questions to installing my own system. Thank you

long weekend- more like 2 hours

Thank you for sharing ! The video is very helpful. Currently i'm in the process of installing solar pv on the roof. But unlike yours, my inverter is not equipped with DC combiner. I still try to checking on the component of the DC combiner, to use the right rating for 5kW ( consist of 2 striig).
Thank you very much ! -
You mention that the frame ground was ran in the same conduit as the + and - wires and your inspector passed that?. The grounding of the frames is for lighting protection or some other foreign energy hitting the panels unlike the ground connection for an electrical outlet. The problem is if you panels are hit by say lighting it will heat up and find the least path to earth so if it is in your AC panel it will heat that up and any points along as well as small radius in the ground wire can and will blow to due to the high energy being forced through a resistance in the bend. There is a big difference from ground outlets and other items in an electrical system but the grounding for lightning protection needs to be separated and a little #10 or #12 wire will fry like an egg on a hot day. I think you should have it looked at.

Mover the panels or shorten the chimney.... Right down if the fire place is bricked up.. which it should be unless you have modern slow burn heater with forced convection fans.
-
Just the right amount of simple, thanks!
-
its going to suck when its time to re-shingle the roof..

Very good info! That sort of looks like Indio, CA with the mountains in the background. But im prob wrong! Anyhow, I love visiting Southern California! Thanks for posting the vid :).
-
men you are lucky, you were really close to be in the California news. If you would stick that screwdriver in those wires that you were touching you would ve been lid up. those wires are always hot always. Do not play with electricity it's not got amateurs.

Great video. I learned a lot and you answered many questions. Thanks
-
Very nice! It makes every details clearly.

Pretty clean install, except for the holes. I think you did well if that's all you had to change.
We just completed an install 2 mo. ago. But hired out the install to get both Gov't and Utility company incentives.
We went with a system that can do a number of modes grid-tie, critical load backup, off-grid etc, (so if grid down we are still in business as usual) and we put on massive batteries (2500 lbs of forklift battery) which I also video taped horsing into place.
We also did a multipart video - called it Star Lite Wars series. Amazed at how in first 6 weeks we're already over 1 Megawatt of total power generated. Thanks --- All the Best!!
