District 9 in real life? 'Secret alien invasion' claims as UFO spotted in lightning storm over South Africa UFO enthusiasts say the black, stationary object appears to discharge plasma before disappearing, possibly as it "jumps dimensions" A mysterious UFO has been spotted during a dramatic lightning storm over South Africa in intriguing scenes akin to the alien invasion movie, District 9. Footage recorded in Johannesburg, where Neil Blomkamp's acclaimed 2009 film is set, captures a fierce electrical storm over the city last month. At one point, as a lightning strike illuminates the sky, a black, stationary object is visible for a moment amidst the flashes in the dark. The object disappears with the flash, but before it goes out of sight, a small ball of light can be seen in the top left section of the 'craft'. "It basically appears with the lightning strike and disappears just as quickly as the strike does. It's definitely an object of some sort." Tyler says instances of plasma being discharged have been seen during lightning storms before, claiming they could occur when UFOs "jump into warp speed". He also says a plasma discharge could be a sign that a ship is "jumping dimensions" and speculates that crafts could be "riding lightning from another planet". The footage is titled "Secret invasion?
