I know that it's not wise, but I am going to comment before watching the video. The reason being, I just watched a video where Niel DeGrasse Tyson the Astronomer and Astrophysics Professor and host of the latest Cosmos series said that Islam put an end to the Arab science and astronomy accomplishments. He pointed out all the pre-islamic science and math and everything else the Arabs had been advanced in and then said that as soon as some Religious leader came along and told everyone else how they should be following the Quran...... interpreting the meaning not the language, that it was the end of reason and a falling away from science and knowledge for the Arabs and the people who were the early Muslims after Muhammad. Niel was saying that the loss of the Arab contributions and leadership in those areas cannot be imagined only mourned, that the Religion had closed their eyes and minds to reality. I have read and heard people talk about Muslim scientific advancements and enlightenment but it turns out that they were all made by people who became Muslims and then those people like Arabs and Persians never made any more advancements again and constantly deny the truth of science since the birth of Islam. So, the truth of all claims should be easy to verify or refute. I am just reading and watching the videos to find out but the claims are completely contradictory so far. all I need is the dates of the advancements and the claims that Muslims made them will either be possible or not, if they were made prior to the birth of Muhammad then they will prove one thing, after his birth if there is a record that a practising Muslim scientist made them that would be settled.

After 48 minutes, the narrator attributed the crusades to the Christians from eastern Europe, but the truth is that the vast majority of the crusaders were from western Europe. Although they arose first as a call to arms incited by Pope Urban II, who urged military support for the Byzantine Empire. And although the Byzantine Empire (from eastern Europe) helped the crusaders with food, transport and reinforcements. And Although the Greeks also fought against Muslims, but the old Islamic historians did not use the term "crusades", they used the term " Frankish wars", which means the war against the Franks (people from western Europe). Ironically, The eventual fall of the Christian Byzantine Empire was mostly caused by Fourth Crusade's attack against the Eastern Orthodox. After the Crusaders took Constantinople in 1204, the Byzantines never again had as large or strong a state, and finally fell in 1453 to the Muslim Ottoman Empire. That is why, Eastern Orthodox Christians also see the Crusades as attacks by "the barbarian West".

Copernicus was smart, yes, but most of his information were based off/taken from Muslim scholars, such as Al-Tusi and Ibnul-Shatir. Those Muslim scholars, in turn, got some of their information from the Quran and were motivated to study they universe because of the Quranic verse that urges all Muslims and non-Muslims to think about and study the universe, its origin, and where it's going in order to reach the ultimate truth about the existence of one true God, Creator of this universe.
Thank you Allah Almighty for showing me the correct path; the path of Islam. :) -
Science and religion is like mixing oil with water.

I wonder if any of that mosque now still stands in Syria? I mean, Mar, 2016, after all the poundings.

If ancient Islamic scholars discovered that the sun is the center of the galaxy more than a century ago, Then why do they teach the exact opposite in modern astronomy? I have seen and read modern Islamic teachings that say the earth is static and the sun goes down into the ground every night.
-
There are 14 plannet arround the sun and it will be proved don;t worry allah is giving us chance to search .how was the condition of humanity before 1392 or 14 centuries ago .who we are to claim who is better search and do not talk with empty claims.I loved this documentary .

NASA points to the possibility of a new Planet 9 in our solar system beyond Pluto.
Muslims scholars are now frantically thumbing through the pages of the quran hoping to find a verse they can use to claim the planet was mentioned in quran after all, and is another example of the books great store of scientific knowledge.
Just hope they dont say Planet 9 sinks into a pool of muddy water on earth every 20,000 years, now that would be a scientific miracle. -
The Muslim world achieved greatness in science, no doubt, and still does. However, others are neglected. When the Hellenic library at Alexandria was burned, the Western World, so to speak, lost higher mathematics and science. That's when the Dark Ages really began. The Malian Empire, in Africa, had copies of the Greek science texts from Alexandria. Mali was a great trading empire at the time. When the Muslims conquered Timbuktu some centuries later, the West regained science, from Greece, via Africa, in the hands of Islam. Navigational devices were seized from Moors by Henry of Portugal, and the Age of Exploration began in Europe. Meanwhile, the narrator forgot that the Maya, before 1200 AD, and even before 900 AD, had independently developed the world's most accurate calendar, more accurate than that of the Islamic Empire, or China. The Maya knew the solar system to be sun-centric, knew the orbits of Venus and other planets intricately, and had more accurate predictions for eclipses and transits than just about any other nation. Maya did all this earlier, except in the case of Greeks, but their work was more accurate. Why are Maya so seldom mentioned? They also had the zero. China itself also came up with calculus and trigonometry, which only the Maya, the Greek and the Indians had before Ptolemy. China and the Maya are very often neglected in science documentaries.
