i am considering this on my rg7421. any tips and advise?

What song is he playing during the 1st minute?

People usually learn to play guitar with generic mics . Then, they want the same control , almost vintage, same fell, with high output ceramic humbuckers. Perhaps all those who feel touched by this comment, should just test the paf pro model ... with those you should never have problems...

Can we play without bettry?

Glad to say I own an Illuminator neck model (DP256) in chrome finish for my RG470FM limited edition - it's such a great combo!

I think I like the Gravity Storms more..

Hey +LarryDiMarzio love Dimarzios, especially Tone Zones and Crunch Labs in bridge and liquifire/PAF in necks. My question is sometimes I miss the less "hot" sound of my old Petrucci's from Musicman, it only says they were custom designed for Petrucci. What was the basis for the bridge pickup in his first gen guitars (before D-Sonic switch), to my best ability I hear Steve's Special they were based off of, is this true?

John Petrucci is better on a real guitar than I am on air guitar

Larry, I need a set of illuminator pick ups for my Ibanez RG 920 QM, but I'm not for sure if I need the regular sized pick ups or the F-spaced to fit my guitar?

Hi Larry ive bought DiMarzio illuminator bridge and gravity storm neck, and im having problems with the bridge pickup, it sounds like a mosquito no mather how much bass i add or cut the treble.. i wiried it with every method, reversed it and it still sounded the same, what should i do with it? its unplayeable.. thx for ur time :)

His tone on the Awake album was my favorite, I read that it was a blaze and an air Norton. Does anybody know for sure?

I just installed the set of these in an Ibanez JS and I have to say that this video is a fair representation of how these sound in reality through a Mark V. I am currently only using a push pull volume in the chain, and have actually found these to feel more powerful with less note to note clarity than the CL/LF in my JP6. So my question is, would this be mainly due to the lack of a tone pot or the direct mounting in the JP6 vs the pickup rings on the JS? I took the tone pot out as I am looking to install a 'Buckethead arcade style killswitch, so is there any wiring diagram you could recommend to be used in conjunction with these pickups?

well then... so its gonna be like that is it? Just shred the shit out of it John... Well done and another great Dimarzio vid.

I've currently got an Ibanez RG1527M, with D-Activators replacing the stock Ibby pickups. I like them much better than the stocks for most things, mainly crunch, full on distortion rhythms and leads -- clean tones not so much, but I rarely play clean tones, when I do I put a shitload of chorus or flange / phase on it just to spice it up...anyway, despite that, I still feel like there's something missing compared to EMG 707. Yeah, I know you will never re-create fully an active pickup sound with a passive...I guess I want something that's impossible, lol. Anyway, if there's an Illuminator 7 string versions (There should be right? All of JP's MM guitars have both 6 and 7 string versions) I might give them a shot just to compare them to the D-Activators. Awesome video.

hello. what is the set of pickups that paul gilbert use on his pgm 300s? thank you

Thinking about putting these in my RG1570.

Hi Larry, I'm from another country so it's kind of hard for me to test the new pickups by myself. I'm considering to buy an Ibanez RG450DX and to replace the pickups with some DiMarzio's which are, for me, the best passive pickups in the World (1+), specifically one of John's sets. I've been considering the Illuminators stronger since they have that classic look and there MUST be a reason John is using them instead, but, what are the main differences between the CL/LF set? I feel the new ones have a more equalized tone than the old ones but you are the master. Also, that Ibanez is a H-S-H; what would you recommend for the middle pickup? I'm looking for kind of a thick strat tone, so I'm inclined towards the Fast Track 1, but I'd like to hear your word. Thanks for your time!
