Demystifying the Higgs Boson with Leonard Susskind
About | Information | History | Online | Facts | Discovery
(July 30, 2012) Professor Susskind presents an explanation of what the Higgs mechanism is, and what it means to "give mass to particles." He also explains what's at stake for the future of physics and cosmology. Stanford University: http://www.stanford.edu/ Stanford University Channel on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/stanford

so these nerds are responsible for throwing us in parallel universes...nice BLACKHAT btw
-
That's a badass hat, I want one.
-
Where can I get a good text on this?
-
I downloaded this

Thanks for sharing the video. I love watching and listening to this guy talk.

higgs creates positrons ?? are they not sometimes captured & contained for vasmr feul ?? Livermore laser gold positron production 1oo billion positrons ?? water up less potent water down more potent ??
-
what if 100 lbs of human fermions & quarks etc....was tied in through the higgs to the condensate lol w/ a very strong / powerful coupling ?? like raw source mass = 0 mass= < o etc..... ?? like perhaps the smallest amount of fermion & quark could have super powerful connection converting ziggs type energy loss into strengthening the bond ??

prior to 5 mins lol :p He speaks of a vacuum (some Spacetime Voluminic ) potentially having 2 capacitors producing an EM field & it has me considering our own localized area as we have globally known for some time that it is increasingly expanding itself while still maintaining a stabilized field not just locally here globally but far beyond as out telescopes have proven..... Perhaps our own universe illustrates that the "capacitors" could potentially be "engineered" so to speak to to contiuously be providing the stabilizing mechanism in "juicing" the EM field throughout the known universe, increasing the "volume / amount of [Energy] in said universe ?? The double slit Experiment provides results that can be notably summarized w/ the experiment is affected by the observer ..... perhaps Life is curious & venturous playful & loving ?? if a field is stabilized in a vacuum it shall remain as long as the field is stable ?? increasing the amount of energy within a spacetime vacuum to me sounds like putting in more juice to a vessel then seeing an increase as a direct result lol almost like our own documented locally centralized universe lol ?? or would the pressure / density of the volume increase like a pressure vessel ?? I think maybe we are seeing the increase of your said twin capacitor inflow of energy to a vacuum / spacetime ?? & how does such things be demonstrated in w/ our own equipment perhaps things like nasa's gravity probe B & known framedragging affects are depictions of such inflow or increase of the EM in a vacuum / spacetime ?? perhaps the measurements from probe B & other confirmed sources allow for the construction of matter in a "warped spacetime / vacuum" Then to be "shifted" over to a "nonwarped state" where the shifting proccess would release tremendous amounts of Energy which could be potentially utilized by our ppl'z ??

What Standford U is doing here w/ giving the global population access to such awesome stuff is truly an amazing great thing for those who take the time to explore such things lol

Is it possible of a field where absolutely nothing exists? What is absolutely "nothing"? But if it is "actually" "nothing", then its is actually something. So there has always been existence? Isnt the idea of the universe a thought of a thought that has hypothetically always existed? Even before anything existed.?

"...what the future might or MIGHT NOT bring" Wise words right there!!

Good Stuff!! Cheers from Brazil!

35:44 - Which is this word he said? "... space being filled with..." ...molesses? ...malecies? ...my lassies? I'm not a native English speaker...

Great explanation Professor. If a 78 year old hillbilly can understand your explanation then these young folks should. Higgs =125 GeV, Wonder if Higgs will put that on his grave stone?
-
It's stopping at 36:43 minutes. I think the original video is damaged.
-
awesome explained so thoroughly
-
All the articles I read were just wrong...
Thanks for sharing. -
Professor, at 44:43 you said about the rate of flip in the electron that the faster it's travel the slower it will flip. Isn't it the other way around, that the faster it travels the faster it'll will flip, which would account for the mass gain as the electron approaches the speed of light?

Guatemalacules are super cool lol im so high i think i can finally understand this stuff
