Newtonian mechanics gets me from here to there, however, Einsteinian mechanics don't get me anywhere and then says I can't get there before I die of old age....

Instead of having to modify Newtonian gravity, what about factoring in the effect of time dilation within the cumulative increased gravitational field? e.g. you don't need dark matter to explain the extra mass, but existing mass has an amplified effect because it's local time is slower and the affected mass in that slower time has a greater total affect.
