Cosmology - Explaining the Universe - Dr. John Byl
About | Information | History | Online | Facts | Discovery
There is a huge gap between cosmological data and theory. Many different cosmologies can explain the same data. Cosmology needs presuppositions, many of which are unverifiable. We examine a number of ancient, Big Bang, and creationist models. Although a cosmological model may have serious short-comings, any favored cosmology can be saved by ad hoc devices. Ultimately, cosmological models are assessed in terms of one's worldview. A Biblical cosmology differs on the nature of reality, origins and eschatology. This video file is a 60 minute seminar by John Byl ( http://creationwiki.org/John_Byl ) that was recorded during the Seattle Creation Conference ( http://nwcreation.net/conference ), October 2010. This was an excellent survey of cosmological models from 2400 years ago to the present time (~2010). Dr Byl provided a summary of each model and cited the problems from an observational perspective of each model. He cited problems with a dozen creationist theories. This was a well balanced presentation. If you want a brilliant explanation of the big bang by a strong advocate of the theory listen to Dr. Morison of Gresham College. I'm glad I listened to both lectures tonight.

The universe was made in an instant and it's entirely irrelevant anyway because the universe was made before the days on earth were counted, after the darkness was removed as a covering, when life was first made on earth, as stated. Light actually arrives to us instantly. It is just that the fabrication of stretched time and stretched space puts our observations into slow motion because that is what we consist of. We don't have the force to be timeless traveling at the speed of light.
-
Time was stretched and space was stretched at the time of Creation and as such time space is a fabrication to begin with. The speed of light right now is almost immediate from the perspective of the photon because time slows down for particles traveling the speed of light.
-
The clock rate right now for the time the photon leaves the star to reach our eyes is almost no time from the perspective of the photon because time slows down for particles traveling at the speed of light.

Lhishlshe! Lhishlshe! Lhishlshe! That is my impression of a scientific LOL.
-
Atheists are being really ignorant. They make us think we are smart.
-
This is the first time that I've heard a creationist present ideas in a measured relatively unbiased way, like a lecture rather than a sermon. The position would be much better served if they were all like this.
-
why to try to explain the universe. Our purpose must be to find new ways for travelling from earth to other stars. This is urgent for human survival
-
"Abiogenesis has never been observed in a natural or artificial environment." Of course it makes much more sense to attribute it to a supernatural being.
-
thats cause there belief if not just by faith but by Blind faith & does not meet the criteria of "the science method" !!! Fathiesm nor evolution is backed by science if it had been true, it would be done like a recipe repeatedly by now
-
"never been observed" - Exactly!
-
only never been observed in human life scale, give it time my friend life was not formed at the speed of thought
-
@RemnantsOfBeauty Absolutely
-
@slaves4christ Could say the same about Religious people tbh.
-
@RemnantsOfBeauty This is why atheists exist. They ignore the evidence because they don't want to believe in God.
-
stopped watching when he said "created by god" epic fail.
