Welcome to the beginners guide to astronomy! Episode 3, in this video I will be talking about some of the necessary basic calculations telescope owners can use to properly plan observing sessions, buying eyepieces and even new telescopes. The calculations covered are: Determining magnification Determining highest useful power Calculating the focal ratio Music: Proton Kinoun - Peripheral System. Ok nevermind the Saturn story my aperture is 5"

So I calculated with 3x Barlow, 1.5x erector eyepiece and 4mm eyepiece900/4 x 1.5 x 3 = 1012.5x magnification

I was looking at Saturn with 900mm/10mm x 3x Barlow through 4.5" aperture max magnification 4.5 x 50 = 225, 900/10 x 3 = 270 :/also, does it work lime that? Adding a Barlow would add x 3 after 900/10?

Thank you, this was useful!!
