Very informative, thanks.
I am in the beginning stages of designing my PV energy system for my remote cabin in a very cold climate. In the winter I might not get to the cabin but 1-3 times a month. From what I have seen on these YouTube videos, one of my problems with this PV system will be to keep my batteries from freezing.
I am not sure how to solve that problem other than digging a basement, etc. and insulating it well, like my neighbor.
Any suggestions? Anyone? -
can I use 8 volt golf cart batteries for my Soler Bank set up thank you
-
nice video.
curious, on that setup you show, what is your avg daily kwh usage? -
Thank you

the best battery is an Edison battery, also known as nickel iron battery

can i pay you to set up a system for me ? Amps solar powered batteries and all that other good stuff ?

very informative, thanks for the video.

I got a good deal on new 14 12v 7Ah SLA for half retail and I was wondering is it better to desulfate them first (most of them are around 14v) or charge them, then desulfate. From my experience doing it charged might be a bit more effective.

do you now about the kickass 1500 200 aphr batrtys 150 & triuugion

Check out the BATTERY SMACKER, that uses longitudinal energy to re-charge your battery rack it is a Battery De-sulfator, Battery Rejuvenator & Battery Re-charger all in one. batterysmacker dot calm.

If you want to make it too just use InpliX handbooks.

for somebody who is just starting should i use 6 volt or 12 volts Trojan

Sweeeeeeeeet set up man!!

what are the biggest challenges for you when managing a deep cycle battery bank?

The battery bank is the very heart of an off grid system, yet so many try to cheap out here and end up wasting their money by buying used or the wrong type. They all need to be the same brand, size, and age (new). Golf cart lead acid is still the best bang for the buck, and you need a hydrometer ($7 bucks from an auto parts store) to make sure they are getting fully charged (very important!). If not, it will shorten their life, so you will need to adjust your charge controller voltage. Look up the battery company online to see their recommended charging voltages. They vary among brands. You probably want to buy them locally as freight charges are outrageous. Some of the larger solar panels are too big for UPS so if you are going to pay freight for batteries, might as well buy those large panels from the same place and save on shipping charges.

I just purchased a used RV with four new Interstate 6 volt batteries that are hooked up in both series and parallel with ending results of 12 volts. They are connected and being charged by four solar panels on the roof. The RV is stored under covered parking at the storage facility and don't get the full sun unless out on the road or camping. Being that the panels provide a small charge / take a long time to bring the battery bank to full charge. I was wanting to take my 12 volt auto battery charger and connect the gator clips from the charger to the batteries where the 12 volts from the batteries connect onto the coach. Can this be done and do I need to disconnect the solar panels leads. This is all new to me so trying to obtain good information and limiting my mistakes. Thanks for information that you can provide. Thanks, Lee

Correcting yourself is frustrating to the listener. Other wise a great video.

Got a 100 watt panel only can get 13.1 on the control charger. Like to get four 100 watt panels how many charge controllers do I need. Got a 600 watt inverter I'm just starting out. I tryed to run a 10,000 btu air unit on it it ran for like 5 min without the pump kicked on

without using electricity and using two (2) 25 volt deep cycle batteries can i use a battery charger connected to one of the deep cycle batteries to recharge the other deep cycle battery?
