Catherine Schell 1 / 3 - The Beautiful " Maya " Space 1999

Here's a clip of the lovely Catherine Schell who played " Maya " in the 2nd and last Season of " Space 1999 " circa 1975-76. Apart from paying homage to the lovely actress Catherine Schell this clip also pays homage to the beautiful and subtly erotic costumes / uniforms that the women wore in Season 2. They wore front split skirts ( the split in front of their left leg or offset left ) and boots; whereas in Season 1 they wore slacks / pants ( these were only worn in Season 2 for landing party duties ). This was an attempt to " jazz up " the 2nd Season. Their costume / uniform was both contempory ( split skirts / dresses were in high fashon from the mid 70's to early-mid 80's ) and a bit futuristic. The show itself was located on the moon, their base was called " Moonbase Alpha " and the inhabitants known as " Alphans ". They use to stockpile all the nuclear radioactive waste there but there was a massive nuclear explosion which sent the moon out of earth's orbit and into space on an unknown course. This specific scene is from the episode " The Seance Spectre ". The leader of a small group of survivalists goes " crazy ". There's a planet coming up that is toxic and the " Althans " evacuate into their ships ( known as " Eagles " ) whilst the moon passes the planet. The base is empty except for it's Commander; Commander Koenig ( Martin Landau ). He and " Maya " are in the " Command Centre " doing some last checks when " Sanderson " the crazy guy comes in and shoots ( " stuns " ) the Commander. He then forces " Maya " to a console to check some readings. The crazy guy is about to kill / shoot the Commander when " Maya " kicks the Phaser out of his hand - this is where the clip starts. " Maya " ( Catherine Schell ) is a alien who they adopt / take in. She was introduced in the 2nd Season. She's a " Metamorph " ie she can change into different creatures - hence she changes into a monster to overpower the crazy guy. Regards.
