recently rewatched this episode.
There are two important scenes involving Worf, between this one and the scene where he kills Gowron:
First, Worf talks to Martok to try to get him to challenge Gowron. Martok refuses, and even tells Worf he sounds "Romulan" for suggesting it.
Then, Worf talks to Ezri to help him decide what to do next. In perhaps her single most meaningful contribution to the series, Ezri explains her feelings, that the Empire is corrupt and that if good people like Worf sit by and do nothing, it will likely fall.
So, Sisko unwittingly provided him with the authority, but it was Ezri who gave him the final push. Still, she probably didn't realize she effectively authorized a political assassination. Still, Starfleet would probably say, "In time of war, the Prime Directive falls silent." -
It's not an assassination when you tell your victim it's coming, arm him, and fight him face to face. That's called winning a duel. And the fact is this fell within Klingon law and tradition. No klingon saw it as dishonorable.
-
Kind of disappointed, in earlier fight with Gowron, Worf won easily, this time he needed Gowron to let down his guard.
-
Klingons, hard to kill.
...unless you poke them in the abdomen. then instant death. Ya figure they would armor that spot or something. -
HONOR OVERLOAD
-
In the end Worf killed Duras and Gowron, the two who were there for the assassination of his wife.

I love arrogant O'brien
-
I wonder if Worf was "intimidated" into doing this?
-
Worf would not be a good Chancellor. He should be Emperor after Kahlas.
-
The I see it is if you challenged your opponent to a duel, then it's not an assassination.

We first saw Gowron in the TNG 4th season episode "Reunion" on the ship of recently deceased Chancellor K'mpec. His rise to the chancellorship was assured when his rival Duras met his end on Worf's blade.
Who would've though that nearly nine years later, Gowron would meet his own end on a space station formerly operated by the Cardassians (a race not even introduced at that point)... also on Worf's blade? -
This whole episode was like "what Prime Directive?"
-
Sisko did some sloppy work! Some damn sloppy work!

Love the way you ended the video, replaying key moments to imply that Sisko ordered Worf specifically to kill Gowron. I know that that is debatable, but the execution of the argument is oddly hilarious...especially with the smirk at the end
-
This was not an "assasination".
-
Worf's making a habit out of deciding on new chancellors

I love how dark DS9 gets during the Dominion War. Gone was the bright and happy 'everything is fine' Federation of earlier seasons. Now they are fighting a war and doing everything they can to hold back the tide, including some very shady shit.
-
honor duel isn't really assassination
-
Tough motherfucker for a guy raised by a couple of nice, homely Russians
-
Sisko did not order Worf to kill Gowron. Worf was the one who said he had a solution - Sisko just gave him the ok to do it.
