Candle Powered "Stoneware" Air Heater. DIY Homemade "Stoneware" Air Heater is made with bricks, an old crock-pot and a fan. Heats up very quickly and produces warm air for hours. Temperatures approached 300F (with 3 candles). highest officially recorded temp. 293F. constant temps with fan running were near 200F. Stoneware is from a 4.5 quart crock pot. candles are from the dollar store, bricks are from home depot and fan is from walmart. good in an emergency/SHTF situation or for everyday use. (alcohol lamps or other heat sources may be used instead of candles)

I am making a slow cooker space heater. I take a $20 space heater, remove crock, fill with 'fire glass'. Turn on high for about 30 minutes. The bits make enough heat they stay very hot for at least 2 hours. You will need a timer so that it runs on high for 30 minutes and turns off for two hours. This will radiate heat into the entire room. If you want heat in a certain space, like I do, I am making a lid that is carbon fiber and ceramic coated with small fan that is solar powered.

Yoy need a heat self operating fan, that you use on a wood stove.

you can buy fans that do not run on electricity that will just run on heat that is distributed from an object such as a heater that you made. they make them for the tiny houses for their wood stoves. that would be alot better than the electric, exspecially if you were in the woods in a tent or a cabin without electricity to keep warm. just a thought.

I just want to let you know, YOU ROCK!!! Thank You so much. I already have everything at home right now. Except a small fan. Now I want have to worry about leaving my home. And possibly my pet during the next powder outage.

I'd try it in a winter greenhouse if I wasn't so afraid of a varmint getting in and knocking it over. I'm going to use lamp oil with mine.

well done and great idea to use crock pot ceramic or oven ware...with yours you could also add a bit of water on the top of the bowl or in a ceramic coffee mug on top to make the air more moist so it doesn't dry out skin ..even a small handful of gravel on top with water to add more heat mass

I'm also wondering whether glass (glass meant for cooking, that is) would work to deliver both heat & light--things that are necessary in a winter storm power outage??? Have you tried glass?

Man i didn't even think about a ceramic pot I have three in my store room Il half to try it out I all so have a pelter candle fan or home made ECO fan for pushing the hot air around thanks for the tip

The only thing these systems achieve is to move the warm air around better. They do not produce more heat. If you think about it they can't it would break the laws of physics.

Your idea is an answer to prayer! I've been looking for second hand plant pots, and yeah it's the off season, but second hand usually has everything. Finding this video is such a relief! I have several crock pots, to appease the RULE OF 1, so I've got a few options for radiant heating. AND I find crock pots at second hand stores all the time. Thanks again tho.... this is just too wonderful!

I would like to see you try to make a self generating motor that actually produces electrical power which could power other appliances...
Do you think you could make it work???
Oh, it could also work in conjunction with the solar power arrays / Solar panels...
I am currently working on this idea, but I do not have the time that I need to give this project my full attention as of right now...
