Candle Powered Heater! (Improved!!) DIY Radiant Space heater! (with fan!!). Easy DIY. Produces 170F+ Temps. Since about half of all the heat from a clay pot heater is typically concentrated at the top of the heater, it just quickly rises straight to the ceiling and is "in effect" lost (or at least "not felt"). this new design attempts to tackle that problem by directing the hot air where you want it (in your personal living space, not at the ceiling). in this new design a vent tube and fan combination is used to trap all of the heat not radiated outward from the sides of the pot and directs that heat into the living space!. fan is a standard 80mm computer case fan (handles the heat fine). the bolts are 2" long (5/16 hex bolts) *not 2 1/2" as stated in video although 2 1/2" or 3" ones should work fine. vent tube used is 5" but buy the right size to fit the flower pot you have.

Here's an idea, use a T large enough to fit all the way down to the rim of the pot then put a terminator cap on one end of the T which will be the back then cut a hole in the terminator cap large enough to accommodate the muffin fan. Next mount the fan on the cap so it pushes cold air in and warm air out the front of the T, this will allow you to capture all the heat from the pot and you won't be blowing hot air through the fan which will make it last longer. You could even go as far as put another terminator cap on the front and cut louvers in it to control the direction and condense the flow giving it better projection.

I would use a 120mm fan to cover the whole pipe end.

I use charcoal in mine. I dont care for the smell much. I especially dont like the kingsford charcoal but it does light easily. I find if I place it out on the deck till it goes grey, then you dont get that lighter fluid smell. I have to be careful not to use too much charcoal because it gets too hot. I just crack the window a little and its fine. I want to make a bigger unit but I am afraid I would melt the fan.

Use an elbow that covers the entire pot.

This warmed the room 20 meters on 20 meters ??

i just made mine it doesnt push much hot air through the fan.I used 6 tea candles. Im going to try 10 tea candles .I tried the alcohol in small cans the flame only last 10 mins. The pots gets extremely warm but the flame doesnt last long enough.I had to go back to the tea candles because they last 4 hours.I may have to upgrade to glass candles like you show in the video to get the amount of heat i need.

what size pots did you use?
-
great design though..

would the fan be better on bottom pushing air up...?,i just wondered.
-
cool but what are the pipe measurements
-
nice
-
Just imagine kids , ice inside that in summer ....
-
I've seen people use the bigger pot first, what is the difference?
-
where can i buy one of those fans
-
Use solar tubes to heat liquid metal then run it through a copper heat exchange with a booster fan to heat your home!
-
Why use the metal elbow, why not just put the fan on a makeshift stand behind the heater and point the fan where ever? It can be used to push the heat out in any direction, or suck the heat into and out in any direction.
