And what if some of those events are unavoidable? Can we survive adrift in space? Find out in this episode of Space Time. Actually Venus can manage it in a grb... too thick an atmosphere
Colonies can be built using the airship idea -
There will have to be several hundred years of calm before man can create something that can get humans of the face of the Earth. Yes, we're advancing in technology but everything right now is like Chinas cheap made toys. We're a tiny phenomenon in this solar system. Our genome came from somewhere out there. Earth was the lucky Planet that brought things to life. If you look at all the species of animals, I'm talking about thousands, where did all of these combinations originate from? They showed up from far, far away. Searching for a place to light where it would support life. Some may a have Perished in the outer Planets. Some on the moons of the Planets or a dash to the sun. The signature of life by accident landed on Earth and it all began once again. So, is there life on other worlds in the Universe? Why not? Solar systems break up all the time when their suns explode or implode and go Nova they scatter the Genome everywhere. I'm so amazed at all of our species here on Earth. I hate to see disappear over time. We try to save them but in mans savagry they destroy them. They're just after the game.

Neal does NOT have a degree in physics. He only minored in it which means SHIT WHY are you putting science fiction writers on as physics experts??????? I have lost a LOT of faith in this channel now.
-
The thing with Elon Musk is that he is actually doing it. He is working on it and is making measurable progress. That's just amazing.
-
For safety against nova or bursts could we not build arks in such a way that they could use the planetary bodies themselves as shields against incoming threats? It would probably require either some kind of FTL communication (and something far enough out to give them warning, perhaps simply by the loss of transmission) or enough arks, in enough different positions, to work. But would it work? Could Jupiter or even our own sun for example shield something on its far side? Or is it just too damaging an event for anything to offer 'enough' protection?
-
It's funny to think that humanity has come such a way and all that could disappear if space sneezed in the wrong direction.
-
My only idea is to hope beyond hope that we don't fuck-up the creation of AI and they are benevolent, and let them direct this effort. I'm not convinced enough humans have the foresight to get anywhere on this.
-
What about putting spacecrafts at the border of Solar System that would monitore gamma ray bursts, so we have at least several minutes to hide away from it?
-
i think we can build some type of circle around the earth to protect it
-
There's always beginning but also a end. Everyone will come face to face with death.
-
Nuclear Winter is Coming
-
I'd say genetic engineering to allow us to survive gamma rays & radiation etc... We already have the technology for that!
-
music at 5:40?
-
Of course interstellar settlement is a good idea. So what if our descendants don't look like us? As long as they think like us and don't become Borg.
-
Which star is the potential gamma burst star? Is it Betelgeuse? Doesn't seem massive enough.

What if we colonise Mars, venus and, take their materials and basicly build a tiny planet to live on. It could move through space, it would be like a planet-ship. We could have infinite energy. How? Lets say I eat something. Now, what if we can collect my body heat when it is radiated away. What if we could stop entropy from increasing? And we would just recycle every photon of energy. And so, we would have an immortal planet. We would make oxygen and other elements, water etc. It would have a surface but it's inside would be super deeply protected in case of something. Sounda cool to me.
-
Why exactly does it seem like we have the objective of living forever?
The idea seems silly to me. -
I love this channel, but I hate that I fixate on this guys moving hands. Hands moving. Moving hands. Hands.

what if out of nowhere a rogue black hole just flies into us faster than we can even feel its effects? like a nearly direct flyby, where we are either instantly swallowed/ran into or flubg out into space
