Can We Create Artificial Gravity in Space?

Share on Facebook: http://on.fb.me/1wuAhwP The effects of weightlessness on astronauts can be extremely severe. So is it possible for us to create ARTIFICIAL gravity in space, like in the 2014 film Interstellar? There are several proposed solutions - but are they practical? In the long term, as space travel advances, solving this issue could really impact the future of our species! What is your favorite explanation for artificial gravity in science fiction? Dude. Centripetal force IS A MADE UP "FORCE". What you are feeling is the NORMAL FORCE of the floor on you, simulating gravity. Just as we feel the normal force of the surface of the Earth on our feet. Physics 101.

You wouldn't be free falling if you were on those giant towers into space, you would not need artificial gravity.

now I will defeat goku
-
find a graviton particle.
we have to figure out gravity if we're gonna live on Mars. -
what about making suit like magnetic suit
-
training room like off of DBZ lol or fantastic 4 in the first movie
-
What about putting something really really massive and dense around the station, like neutronium?

Your video is really well done and very well narrated - excellent job!

you simulated effect of gravity. this will help with some aspect of low gravity but it dose not help with effect of low gravity at atomic, molecular and cell level. for that you need to know gravity and it real interaction with matter. full detail in my 1975 Bremen summerhouse notes or by official request. What can we do to create a gravity effect, for long-term stays in space? The best idea going is (still) the rotating wheel station. The good news is, with space industry about to start up, with asteroid mining, in-space fuel production, etc., in time, and with potential windfalls in the trillions USD, such projects may be affordable. Right now they're technologically doable. -They're just waay too expensive! with the kind of budgets we presently have for space projects. Expanded (highly lucrative) space activity and space commerce should change that. Might be quite a few decades out, but I think big gravity-effect wheel stations will happen eventually.

Centripetal force is what gives objects in space its gravity. Just look into that further to find your means of creating artificial gravity

"the force of acceleration that pulls us towards the earth's center at 9.8 m/s^2" is a sentence of utter nonsense. any force causes acceleration to anything that has mass. there is nothing special to the force applied by the phenomenon called gravity that makes it cause acceleration. (let's ignore for now the actual definition of gravity according to Einstein's general relativity and let's focus on the Newtonian approximation) so in this context gravity is a phenomenon that causes a force to be applied between two bodies that is proportional to the product of their mass and inversely proportional to their distance squared. given that the earth's mass is constant and we are talking about things happening on the surface of the earth the only factor that changes is the second body's mass, the force is always proportionate to the body's mass and causes a constant rate of acceleration of approximately 9.8m/s^2. so to sum it up gravity is not the acceleration or the force that causes the acceleration, it is the phenomenon that causes the force that accelerates the body.

Magnetic boots - simple.

In cowboy bebop the bebop has a spinning portion in the middle of the ship that creates centrifugal force and thus creates artificial gravity. Pretty good explanation.

problems but no hypothetical solutions

can we artificially reduce gravity on earth to make travel easy for older people on earth.
-
I expected space stations to have artificial gravity, its the 21st century.

Artificial Gravity = Gravity Training Rooms. This mean I can train at 300x gravity and get a power level OVER 9000!!!!!
-
just yes or no would do..

I was thinking of making 1/18 or 20 part of the space machine thing and than sending it than the astronaut can pit it together instead of the parts being in the space rocket
