Twitter: @hannahvictorius Email: hannahvictorius@gmail.com This is hopefully the first video of many as I chart my progress towards becoming a physicist. But more importantly I want this to be about campaigning for Women in STEM and changing government policy about ELQs, and access to retraining and adult learning in the UK, as I feel it is incredibly restrictive in its current form. Read more about ELQ restrictions here: http://bit.ly/1MRjkct And more about encouraging Women in STEM here: http://www.londonlive.co.uk/news/2014-08-28/professor-brian-cox Ever since I was a little girl I've wanted to be an astronomer. At secondary school I was put off pursuing it as a career option by the thought of studying maths and physics. But why would that put someone off? Since I graduated with a degree in Serbian and East European Studies in 2011, I have been trying to figure out how I can ever get the chance to retrain as a physicist. With £9000 a year fees and very little access to any financial aid, it's not going to be easy. I've come up against many dead ends already. Well 2016 looks like that might be the year it finally happens, but there are still many barriers to overcome. I'm pretty sure I can't be the only person fighting to pursue my passions professionally, so let me know if this is you too!
