Buzz Aldrin Space Program Manager - Race To The Moon
About | Information | History | Online | Facts | Discovery
Buzz Aldrin's Space Program Manager is a modern remake of Buzz Aldrin's Race Into Space a classic PC strategy game where you manage a space program with the goal of beating your competitors to the Moon. BASP extends this by including missions beyond the Moon and allowing you to ignore the Cold War hostilities and run a unified space program. The game is available on steam or directly from the developer http://slitherine.com/games/BA_SPM_Pc http://store.steampowered.com/app/308270/

I like calling any currency million billions instead of mega bucks :P

10:54 - Great job, Scott! Eisenhower was the president in 1955.

This is what i wanted ksp to be when i first saw ksp. But now i can't help looking at it as a rip off, riding the kerbal success.

@Scott Manley
Have you ever played the game "Buzz Aldrin's Race into Space" from 1993? If yes, how does this one compare to it? -
As an American I can tell you every time you said "Explorer One" I thought you were saying "Exploder One"
That might be a better name for it, anyway. I think you're onto something... :D -
17:50 the reliability was 66.6

Wait, so you don't actually fly rockets in this game, it's just about managing a space program?! That's lame!
-
So they brought back and relabled a game called Buzz Aldrins Race Into Space from 20 years ago. By the defunct Interplay company.
Can you still play 2 player games over email or modem. LOL.
But seeing as game play is exactly the same. I would rather see live action historical footage over cgi. -
I am a average KSP Player and I am a nerd!!!

Reliability penalties on failure seem to me like a gamey feature. Shouldn't it still be considered a learning experience? Apollo 1's fire was something of a watershed moment in capsule safety. Successes without that single failure as a learning experience would surely have been haunted by the possibility of such a catastrophe.
I would think that a more appropriate penalty would be a prestige one that also includes a counter that once you've lost so much prestige to a given program the politicians order you to cancel it or something thereby sealing off an entire avenue of development for you. -
By the first time I saw the Buzz Aldrin Race into SPace, the first though that popped was: "If only someone made a medern version..." And my prayers actually worked!
-
Please play more of this!

For some reason, I laughed really hard at that "I'm an engineer specialising in rocket design and being a former nazi". I love how Scott never tries to offend people, but when he is slightly offensive its in all the best and funniest ways.

Please do a Let'sPlay on this Game its so awsome!
-
So, it costs 30 bucks for the downloadable version, or 45 bucks for the box version.
It looks like a really good game, but is it really worth that much? Any opinions from people who bought it? -
While this may not seem as entertaining as KSP, I still feel that KSP could learn a lot from this game when it comes to their career mode mission system - which is what this game is all about.
-
It said the year is 1955, but why isn't Pluto shown as a planet?
-
That wideo made me try this game and its so cool!
Though some times it really shows that there are things that are just beyond your control...
Having a launch failure at "recovery" stage after reentry and landing were successful resulting in 2 astronauts dead... that was harsh. And if was 95% reliability under 80+% mission control... -
You should do a full-blown series to this game! :D

I would love to see a playthrough of this
