Mr samuel use your common sense. Most of the buddhist cosmology came from the hindu cosmology because after the death of buddha around 3 to 4 hundred years later many brahnims who turned into buddhism have written the buddhist suttas and they were liar in name of buddha such as buddha said this and that but Big no that is full of lie. Buddha is buddha ultimate truth and never comment such silly cosmology not only flat earth also the sumeru or mount meru which is considered the center of univers. For example, a renowned Indian scholar named Vasubhandhu (ca. 4th or 5th century CE) provided an elaborate description of the Meru-centered cosmos in the Abhidharmakosa. That is bullshit because he never saw the original buddha and it was not buddha's idea.

This is what the Buddhist cosmology according to the ancient Buddhist scriptures. .....Buddha. teach about an under world, the earth, the mid region of Devas inhabiting world of passions and desires, the higher region of Devas inhabiting the world of forms and perception and the highest region of abstract world known as Brahma lokas inhabiting great beings.
Buddha teachs the earth as the centre of the univers, resting on the Mount Meru surrounded by seven con centric rings of mountains and seven oceance, with the hells of asuras below and the worlds of devas above.
