Both are a type of chorus effect, but the DC-2 is analog and the DC-3 is digital. Until I tried the DC-3, I was actually pretty put off by a digital chorus. Ew. Well, I was pleasantly surprised! If you are curious about the two names, here is the story. The pedal was released as the Digital Dimension. In the late 80's, the pedal stopped being sold in the US, and was only sold overseas. The name was then changed to Digital Space-D for the Japanese market. (Bossarea.com) The DC-3 is quite awesome actually! Don't let the word 'digital' fool yah. It is much more flexible and more 'natural' sounding than the DC-2. The chorusing effect can be much more subtle as well. While using the pedal in mono, I had to set the Level control past noon to really hear the effect. The EQ knob controls how much high end shimmer you want in the chorus; 12:00 is a good starting point. Rate and Depth work just like you would imagine. Once again, I found 12:00 to be nice for both. If you set the Depth and Rate to around 9:00, you can get a really cool fattening effect. You won't really hear any chorusing. Instead, your notes and chords just fatten up and sound more slick. Overall, I really like the DC-3. It just may be my favorite Boss Chorus. I have used it on some clean parts for Atma Weapon's new album. This is coming from a guy who typically hates chorus too! -Cameron Johnson Music by Atma Weapon atmaweaponnc.bandcamp.com facebook.com/atmaweaponnc

Calm down bro. Your timing and harmony is great. But it's all eighths and sixteenths. No swing, no syncopation. Made me wanna fall asleep. Just constructive crisisism, it's truly a study all of its own.

Nice!
I'm curious, in stereo mode, does it split dry/wet between the 2 outputs? -
The intro sounds exactly like the intro of, "A un minuto de ti - Duncan Dhu". Well. Obviously post punk and those melancholic genres use this kind of pedals...

Just picked up one of these from the 80's (blue label, still labeled the Digital Dimension), and it is surprisingly great! I'm most impressed with how flexible the controls are, and how usable all the settings are.
Thanks for the great demo! -
I have a '79 CE-2 but I'd love to add one of these, underrated I think...sounds great :)

Please make the channels intro music to 50% level of what it is now, since it now is 100% more than the sound in the rest of the video. I just got my eardrum broken.

i like your t-shirt

I like this but I bought a DC-2 in perfect condition in March. The DC-2 is the sound of Chorusian Rhapsody! I will probably try find a DC-3 down the track!

Yeah, man. I don't like Chorus pedals... but I like this DC3 when the amp is dirty... it just sounds BIGGER... This will be good for recordings where you need the crunchy guitar to have size.
