About | Information | History | Online | Facts | Discovery
My dad met the band awhile ago and has been great friends with the lead guitarist Buck Dharma from Blue Oyster Cult. It was two weeks ago on march 15th when the weather was really bad up here. He was supposed to fly home but because of the weather his flight was cancelled. He asked my dad for a ride and he invited him over my house. since I play guitar he jammed with me and he did an improvised solo to fight for your right to party by the beastie boys and he plays some of the song astronomy by BOC. How cool is that - thanks for sharing!

Met Buck a few times and he's always been quite sincere and very cool.Even remembered my name and we really didn't get into deep conversation, the first meeting.
I asked him if he remembered the atlanta gig where they laid down that version of "kick out the jams" that made it onto "some enchanted evening" and after telling me "yes", I asked him (quite silly but, I did) what it was like to be able to play like he did on that version.
He was so humble. He said "I was feeling really good that whole week we were down in Atlanta.Met some fun kids earlier in the day and I promised them a good show.I gave it my all for the opener." I'm still in awe of that reply. That version has some fucking insane guitar playing on it.Furious is more like it.
Good for you, Mike. Right on. -
He seems like such a down to earth guy. Thank god his taste in clothes has changed since the 70's lmao

My god, Buck Dharma playing Astronomy in you own living room. Damn! I'd close it off and turn it into a shrine after that.

Thanks for such a wonder gimps to a really nice moment in time. I wore out a BOC cassette listening to it over and over again. I saw them once in Medford Oregon in the early 1970s and was bedazzled by the band, especially Buck of course. What a hard working intelligent bunch of guys.

Epic right there! The man! Great story, cool footage. Great guy

Don "Buck Dharma"Roeser Is one of the most underated guitar heroes of rock and metal!! Listen yo any version of "Buck's Boogie and you will get a small sample of his BADASS Genius!!!! You are a lucky guy to have him come by like that! (HOW COOL)!! I'm envious!!

Dont I remember you from Cloudy Nights or some other e-group? Seems like I remember this being posted there, but I could be wrong. I just happened across this again. Either way, I know I saw this several years ago when you first posted it, I just cant remember... but it seems like we chatted about it because Buck is one of my favorite guitar players, from way back.
Great stuff, that must have been fun. -
Its amazing what an accomplished guitarist can do with a guitar and a single amplifier. The opening notes of "Astronomy" send chills down my spine.
Got to speak a few stilted words to him at the City Limits Cabaret and thanked him for performing from his solo album "Flat Out".
I know he won't be at huge venues again. It meant so much to me to see him at small, personal venues where he could really connect. -
I talked with BD and his wife Sandy a year or so ago when they played in the Washington, DC area very nice couple.

This video is A+. The contrast of who he is compared to being a simple webcam vid capturing him doodling is awesome.
-
What is that song called I want to play with it, the one he started doing in E-minor on the 7th fret? It' starts about 1:18 into the video. Thanks in advance!

Been to lots of BOC shows over the years; Buck is the one of the most inventive guitarists in the business, IMHO. Cool vid, thanks!
-
That must have been pretty awesome. Buck is the bomb, with any guitar.
-
Love this guy.:)

Great guitarist and I've heard that he's just a regular guy.... One of my favorites is his work on Godzilla, when they get to the part where the high tension wires are pulled down... he makes that sumbitchin' guitar sound like it's actually on fire...

Dearest Don, the highlight of my creative life was jamming with you and my dear friend Ira Rosoff. Hope U R well! Peas...... Thank you!
