Blue Oyster Cult: Astronomy (Imaginos Version)
About | Information | History | Online | Facts | Discovery
lyrics: Clock strikes twelve and moondrops burst Out at you from their hiding place Like acid and oil on a madman's face His reason tends to fly away Like lesser birds on the four winds Like silver scrapes in may And now the sand's become a crust Most of you have gone away Come susie dear, let's take a walk Just out there upon the beach I know you'll soon be married And you'll want to know where winds come from Well it's never said at all On the map that carrie reads Behind the clock back there you know At the four winds bar Hey! hey! hey! hey! Four winds at the four winds bar Two doors locked and windows barred One door to let to take you in The other one just mirrors it Hey! hey! hey! hey! Hellish glare and inference The other one's a duplicate The queenly flux, eternal light Or the light that never warms Yes the light that never, never warms Or the light that never Never warms Never warms Never warms The clock strikes twelve and moondrops burst Out at you from their hiding place Miss carrie nurse and susie dear Would find themselves at four winds bar It's the nexus of the crisis And the origin of storms Just the place to hopelessly Encounter time and then came me Hey!hey! hey! hey! Call me desdinova Eternal light These gravely digs of mine Will surely prove a sight And don't forget my dog Fixed and consequent Astronomy...a star

quelqu'un pourrait-il me donner un lien avec les tablatures guitare de cette version qui est fantastique svp...merci.
-
Wow! Cool. I've been trying to re-find this album for years! Quite rare and out of print.
-
if you seek perfection , find the Albert Bouchard sung demo of this album, that's the best version of astronomy there is... and the rest of the album too
-
this is an ok version
however for me
following BOC
from before they were The masters of this awesome type of music
I say the original cannot
be ever replaced.
we can listen to the secret treaties album over and over
but this one, will get not more then 2 plays. -
If you're going to change the structure, the chord progression, the lyric rythym, the chorus rythym, the verse rythym, and completely remove the key interlude, the beat, the beat transitions.....
Then why the F%$k can't you write some new friggin lyrics, come up with another name, and make it what it is, which is a COMPLETELY and UNRECOGNIZABLY (musically) DIFFERENT SONG.
They could have called it Astrology and made it about the zodiac or something. Like a SEQUEL. But this is a PISS POOR remake. Far inferior to the original. -
my favorite version of the song. many layers of music, arrangements are fantastic (piano for example). atmosphere of the entire album is beyond description.
-
This track polarises BOC devotees, as does the entire album. For me, this is my favourite track on my favourite album, done by my favourite band.
-
what??? who actually thought this was a good idea? pearlman? an unintentionally funny masterpiece, shoulda been on club ninja-that albums existence is even more denied than imaginos, if u could believe it
-
I really do like this version but I still think the original is better, whereas the Imaginos version of Subhuman is vastly superior to the original ( which doesn't seem to get or care about the intent or story of the original poem )

Ticket to Helsinki gig acquired
-
No offence but I like the original one better

The original Astronomy is undoubtedly one of the greatest rock songs of all time. The atmosphere and nuance of pure musical genius is evident as it runs the gamut of shade and light - it builds and builds from subtle to explosive. An epic arrangement that surely reaches the Pantheon of classic rock immortality. Eric Bloom does a masterful job singing these mysterious lyrics with both guile and sensitivity. What other Rock Band - besides the Blue Oyster Cult would ever dare to tamper with one of their indisputable Masterpieces? And yet, not only do they rearrange the tempo and mood of the original - but they "pull it off" with great and unbridled gusto! This time we have Buck Dharma (one of the All-Time Guitar Heroes) reintroducing and reinterpreting the same mysterious lyrics to our amazement and great satisfaction. Bravo

This version lacks the mystery, subtly, and atmosphere of the original. The original version is a masterpiece. This remake sounds like traditional 80s stadium rock.

This is my favourite song of all time. Yes, I'll admit, there was a time when I foolishly thought the original was by Metallica. Then I heard Secret Treaties. Then I heard this. It has everything I could ever want in a song. Atmosphere, amazing singing, and that instrumental section! This is the song I always turn to - when I need a pick-me-up, when I'm smashed, when I need to test new headphones, when I like to pretend I am in a band. Best listened to with eyes closed. I like that this is an unknown gem, so I can say my favourite song is not something obvious. This is an absolute masterpiece. If it were not for that stupid little 'a staaaar' at the end, it would have been perfect.
Thank you, BOC, for this. -
I love this version, but they took my favourite part out!
-
Without any doubt, the Imaginos version is superior in every way to the original Secret Treaties version. Only stubborn sentimentalists would disagree. The band is much more mature in this later version and talented, at the peak of their field. What, you think they get worse and less talented with age? Pssssshaw!

I love how beautifully relentless this version is. Right from the beginning there is just no letting up at any point and then, typical of BOC's unique musical guile, you're taken to new levels with ever-increasing depths.
