That's an interesting approach to 'time-distort 5' travel. I do think that at least some of the original effects need updating, even if (as the point has been made) it's impossible to make the updated effects blend in with the original effects. Say what you like, for £50 Matt Irvine and the other effects people did remarkable work. It's not like they had the 'Space 1999' budget. Also, the London's captain saying that no one bothers anymore is ironic, given how he seems to have become resigned to what happens on his ship and can only offer an initial 'be discreet' to Raiker.

Leslie Schofield who plays Raiker, was Calib in the Doctor Who story The Face of Evil also directed by Pennant Roberts.
-
Oh, and the other guy, Raiker, is none other than Chief Bast from "Star Wars Episode IV".
-
Why is that clip only 1:15 long? Is the full episode available on youtube?
-
Don't like the new SFX personally. I thought the same when they "remastered" Red Dwarf. B7 wouldn't be the same without its good old spaceships on strings!

@Scifimaster92 ha ha cheer up captain you know what they say.....
-
Have any of you noticed that Norman Tipton (the actor playing Artix) looks and even sounds an awful lot like Eric Idle?
-
@flerb thanks i dont have a hi res version and sadly i lost some of the files in a hard drive crash a wqhile back someone is paying me to enhance his favorite episodes right now so i will be redoing this hopefully a little higher rez
-
@reivenlocke Yes I can believe that, but what happened to the bbc remake,I can only guess it was the recession and spending cuts at the bbc,and jonathon ross's pay cheque

This is brilliant. I definitely like. Thank you. A thought for you, on the off-chance it gives you some ideas you can play with. There's a relativistic raytracer that shows the effects of extreme relative motion. It's not, to be honest, very good in and of itself. What it might do, though, is give you an idea of how to do lensing to get the same sort of distorted look. But given the motion is so fast, would such distortion add or subtract from the effect?

because i have condensed parts of the episodes to show off parts with special effects that i am replacing with CG a full episode is too long....just to show off a few effects
-
i started off trying a new battlestar galactica jump, sort of a white flash and it disapears...didnt look right. Thing is if u make it too up to date then it really stands out and doesnt look good :-)

That was excellent work, they never showed the time distort effect in any large detail. That was brilliant, it had the right feel of the era.
