Science allows the theory of a "creator" (whatever it could be), but science does not allow that "God"(based on any sort of religion) is not that one.
In fact, religion itself killed "God". -
Bishop Robert Barron never mention the scripture (not sure if the term is correct) when he explains that God created the univers (or created the very first piece of matter that created everything that exist)
He says that "it" had to be created (I'm so frustrated over my lack of english vocabulary !) if nothing existed before.
So far I agree with him: something has created something.
He then says that the something/creator is "God".
And my question is: how do you know that "God" is the creator? -
The catholic Church has a long history of denial about many subjects. This video shouldn't surprise anyone in that regard.

that is true in my college I studied medieval history and it turns out to be that it was the Christians in medieval times in particular the Roman Catholics and as well as Orthodox as such that it that invented the very notion of the scientific method around the 1100s or 1200s! when taking medieval history you'll find out that science and thought was not banned it from the church or Christianity in general matter fact it was encouraged.
I guess to cut it short it baffles me how popular media portrays your typical Christian & the history. They miss represent all the facts and sometimes just flat-out wrong.
Not to pick on anybody but I must admit evangelicals make it harder to brake that sterotype. -
In short
God, the beginning and end of all things, can be known with certitude by the natural light of human reason from created things;
Romans 119For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them.
20Ever since the creation of the world his eternal
power and divine nature, invisible though they are, have been
understood and seen through the things he has made. So they are without
excuse; -
The Soviet Union was one of the most violent regimes of the last century and was officially atheist. They killed thousands of religious people. China today continues to opress the religious. Every worldview can be used as a catalyst for violence and oppression.

Quote: "Modern theoretical #science arose ONLY in the #Christian milieu... #Atheism is as much a catastrophe for science as it is a catastrophe for humanity. The only thing atheist systems produced reliably (and still produce reliably) is corpses." http://www.evolutionnews.org/2016/09/atheism_is_a_ca103154.html

In my personal mailbox, YouTube has just let me know about this contribution from the person who calls himself "Michael Montague". I've been unable to use the YouTube "reply " button so I'm re-posting his contribution here.

Oh, Etienne: Your point? When I was a gullible, naive, ignorant
teenager, it required powerful, often apparently insulting articulation
of the lack of evidence for my delusion. Only through that was I,
personally, able to break through superstition. If you can't stand the
heat, as they say, get out of the kitchen.
################################################
Let me suggest that you try articulating your arguments in a manner which attracts people towards you.
Please don't worry about my ability to withstand the heat. I'm more concerned about your health. -
neil degrasse tyson is a colossal sell-out

1) Intelligibility? objective intelligibility? That doesn't say anything about the existence of a designer of the universe. You're not saying anything. Intelligence doesn't have to come before the existence of the universe for us to be able to learn about the universe.
2)The path to truth is not paved by arguing from authority, it is paved by using empirical evidence( Observable or capable of being experimented upon).
3) You just addressed less than 4% of Cosmos. The rest of it isn't kind to religion either.
4) Sitting in front of books while being filmed doesn't make you intelligent.
5) You make a lot of assertions and assumptions about intelligence - but nothing to back them up. -
Oh Robert Barron: I notice that more and more you are trying to address recent findings in physics and cosmology because you are aware that these findings completely destroy any notion of a "god," or other supernaturalistic "explanation" for anything. You spend less time on various aspects of Roman church "dogma" and on defending child rape than on addressing science. Well, you're losing. May I suggest that you at least employ a few scientists who are also supernaturalists? They won't make arguments that are any more compelling, but at least they will have great initial credibility, until their arguments are destroyed by the evidence.

Great Job please make other debunking the original's cosmos claim that St. Cirilo didn't give the order to kill Hipatia of alejandria that carl sagan falsebly puts on christan s as well the destruction of the library that in reality was destroyed by others and not christians

WHAT?!?!?!
you take away from this beautiful documentary,
some piece of blasphemy.
seriously?
And also without the middle east we wouldn't have algebra
So science wouldn't be what is today with out middle east.
So? allah must be real!
And also they weren't being anti-religious, because the guy who was persecuted WAS catholic and they clearly stated that in the episode. -
The tone of some of the comments is deeply saddening. I find the following recurring:
(a) use of derogatives to describe those in disagreement
(b) conflation of past and present: errors of the past condition views of the present
(c) generalisation
(d) condescension
We live together in the same spaces, whether virtual or physical. Moderation, composure and good will must imbue atheists and believers alike. With these qualities, these spaces feel free and open. -
Thank you Bishop Barron for the video and for placing in the table evidence of Catholic contributions to science.

I love how dirty Christians think they still have the authority to say, "Religion and faith accepts Science" well here's a little news flash. SCIENCE REJECTS YOU. Science does NOT NEED YOUR STUPID ACCEPTANCE. You people need to abandon your sinking ship of a religion and jump into the Ocean of Science. because Science will ALWAYS demolish your pious fraud, your filthy fanaticism and your pitiful desperation of saving your tiny little fragile ego that you are the center of creation. The TRUTH HURTS PEOPLE.

Oh, Robert: It must be tough for an apologist like you to make up some kind of fake rationale for incredible evil. But you do it every time.

The biggest problem is not aggressive secularism. Why? Secularism helped found the Enlightenment. It gave us thinkers such as John Locke, Denis Diderot, Voltaire, Baruch Spinoza, James Madison, Thomas Jefferson, and Thomas Paine (and many more). We have freedoms, a Declaration of Independence, civil liberties, a Bill of Rights, the Constitution, and a democratic republic due to ideas such as secularism and Progressivism--which pushed for total equality. Think: gay rights, women's equality, minority rights as a nonbeliever, rights to read uncensored information etc. What did religion do? Religion censored what we read, it stood in the way of equality in so many ways for hundreds of years.

The concrete fact of the matter is that Giordano Bruno was put to death by the Church. His execution is a continual reminder of what religious fanatics are capable of when in power.

Get a proper job and be thankful we don't burn you fools at the stake.
