Binoculars & 5 Advantages Over Telescopes
About | Information | History | Online | Facts | Discovery
Binoculars are often overlooked by new astronomers because when they think about astronomy, they automatically think about telescopes. In reality, binoculars have an important place in stargazing, and many astronomers always bring them along. In fact, I always bring my pair along with me and use it interchangeably during a night out in the field. In this video, I highlight the 5 advantages of binoculars over telescopes: 1. Small & Lightweight 2. Easy to Transport 3. You Might Have One 4. Less Expensive 5. Easier to Find Objects If you have anything else you'd like to add, please add them to the comments section below. Clear skies and thanks for watching! Link to my Nikon Action 8x40 binoculars: http://amzn.to/1MJGjDr

Thanks for making this video. I'm just getting into astronomy and decided to choose a pair of binoculars partly based on your recommendation. I have been really surprised at how much more you can see in light polluted skies. Keep the videos coming!

I find it's more blurry or harder to focus on something when I'm using both eyes to look at something through my binoculars. So I usually just focus through one eye to look.Im adjusting it so both sides are focused equally so am I doing something wrong or is seeing with one side clearer normal with binoculars?

Exactly right! I messed up and bought the cheap telescope first and for just the reasons you mentioned, the young adult I purchased it for was turned off. Cheap optics and cheap mount. I wound up chucking it. I've since purchased a 10x50 pair of Carson 3D's and they are way more used by all. These binoculars can be used for number of purposes. However, an astronomy pair might be better to see the rings of Saturn or the moons of Jupiter. This pair doesn't quite capture those. My next step will be a higher quality telescope ($750-$1500). I've seen some of your other videos, don't think I really want a goto feature, but definitely want an equatorial mount.

what would be a nice and affordable 10x50 binocular
