1. hi Stephen how is the battery,s doing that you have we was looking at some but in 6 volts like you have but don,t no how good there are you happy with them
2. You should be using fine stranded DC cable at least 0 gage for 12 volt systems or copper bar or aluminium bar, 16mm AC cable is not suitable for that application and could catch on fire with a high amperage draw and reduce your system performance under heavy load..

8. What brand/model number of batteries do you prefer?  Where do you get the from?
9. when batterys are connected you won't get true voltage readings they will all read same because they are all wired together. your terminal connections should also be soldered. and what is this series parallel you keep saying ... if you have a 24v. system you series 4 6v batterys you get 24 v take 4 more 6v batterys in series for 24 volts and parallel your 2 banks together for 24v. but double the storage and its all about storage. i install grid tie and off grid for a living also live off grid to much pwr loss with 12v sys.  need heavier  cable for all wiring. you guys make it confusing.. as for your battery box i would never put any thing electrical in the box!! the gasses are 15 times liter that air holes low and holes high is all you need fans just using pwr. i know you say its very small amount but it all adds up..and your battery cables are covering your cells pain to add water.. and i never use batterys with posts it just doubles your connections. seen systems with 24 batterys and one bad connection destroyed the batterys.. like to see the DIY thing but get some advise it will save lots of money and and you could hurt yourself or someone else    
10. I just got a Solar City 10kw system. Can I create a system like this to store solar energy during the day and draw later at night, without disrupting the Solar City inverters.

13. Thanks Billy yes I like the 12 volt system its just easier and great even charge not have to worry about uneven charge. Just have to get big cables for 12 volt but its worth it. Loving them meters they are great for information.
14. Stephen, the 12 volt system is the sure fire way. It seem's to me that the series parallel is a golf cart mess. LOL. But I run all mine into parallel, plus I run my 24 volt turbines into it and all it does is charge faster. I even have 24 volt panels that are fed into the 12v battery bank. My 12 volt system has been done this way for 4 years now and not a problem. I like the 12 volt system cause the inverter's and lights are cheaper!! Another thing is if the SHTF, I can walk out to my car and pull a head light and then I have lights, LOL! But the costly thing I have been saving for is a 12 volt offgrid Outback, all I have to say about that costly!! Thanks and waiting for your updates!
15. You can charge series parallel you just have to make sure your cable lengths from the charge source is equal. You won't "ruin" your batteries Its difficult not impossible. They are many who have successfully setup and charge series parallel banks on you tube
