When your teacher makes you watch this video for hw but you have no idea what its saying :(((

how are stars catalogues or identified then? because if their ascension and declination are changing with the earths rotation, and theyre position in the sky changing with the earths movement aroind the sun and magnetic pole, how can stars ever have a fixed set of coordinates? and if they dont have fixed coordinates, how do we locate them or tell one from the other??
Most stars are Catalogued but i dont understand how? how can you be expected to find star A1405 if its coordinates depend on time? -

what does it do with the zodiac?

i am struggling to understand celestial equator, horizon system of coordinates and earth system of coordinates in one.. :(

I was brought here by Coursera, Astronomy 101 :)
Thank you Kurdistan Planetarium for this video. -
I was sent here by a mooc

well you know Earth Axis is inclined at an angle of 23.5 degrees so from a vantage point in space Earth seem to be inclided in its rotation and revolution about the sun. but on Earth no one feels changes unless observing the sky! most of diagram is to explain it and make it easier to understand !
-
so are we sideways or is it just placed like that so its easier to see
-
Sky just like Earth is divided by system of grids, to locate stars, now North Celestial Pole is located where star Polaris tail of the little bear in the sky. if you be standing on North Pole that star would be on zenith (top of your head), if you stand on Equator it will be on Horizon (zero degrees), so it matches your latitudes locaton. altitudes of stars are heighs above horizon from your location as ref. point.

glad you found it useful :)
-
very informative!

the only way this video could be any clearer is if they got Morgan Freeman to narrate it great vid!
-
sorry for your troubles but I think its clear explanation, the difficulty is lie in that this topic is about Positional Astronomy same as in geography in order to find a place one has to knowldge of Longitude and Latitude , same here with the Sky we do have several system to locate an object but like I said its important but might be not easy for first timer in astronomy, however you can expand on this and I am sure you can find an easy book to understand it better. wish you luck !

I stopped and started the video numerous times but that didn't help. I need a regular person explaining it.
-
what is the name of the drawing at the end of the video 2:44?
-
Unfortunately, I'm just stupid.
-
strange question, what are you asking about, its a video with a clear title and explanation for 2:45 mins, what else you want to know, you can watch the entire sieres here about 20 such videos to learn Basics of Astronomy !
