Astronomy Lecture - Stellar Evolution

Why do I get the distinct impression that these people trying to explain stellar evolution don't really understand it themselves? If a celestial body of 6M contracts H fusion should begin, yes? But this mass is greater than what neutron degeneracy can support, yes? But less than the mass required to go beyond the CNO cycle, yes? So, we get a black hole that burned out with a He/C core as its result?
It would greatly clarify things if someone could just list what initial masses are required to attain each fusion cycle up to Fe, then also list beside that what masses are supportable by:
1. electrostatic pressure (with or without fusion)
2. electron degeneracy pressure
3. neutron degeneracy pressure and
4. not supportable (black hole) -
Wouldn't it be weird to live in a solar system with a binary star system? Instead of one star there would be two.I would think that would have profound effects on Earth though as our distance from our Sun is just right as it is, so orbiting two stars might have made life on Earth impossibleIt's amazing how many different circumstances must be met in order to encourage living life forms. We literally hit the universal jackpot. There is life out there in the universe, mathematically it has to be.

3:48 ya lazy bum.

Hahaha, when he says: "Hang on, let me go get my toy supernova".
-
Thank you for this extremely informative lecture. I have an Astronomy final tomorrow and this really cleared up a lot of material that I was not clear about.
-
fast forward a couple of minutes.
-
I'd love to see what he is doing on stage

my favorite lecture! listened to many btw i had time to comment because of the beginning pause oops got to go... starting great to go to sleep to!!

Seeing it takes as much as a supernova to really go faster than the speed of sound thus making the withholder of that energy a time travel. In theories this can only be caused by Type 3 civilization as explained by the famous Drakes equation. This also causes wormholes as you all have learned about them. it should only open a wormhole for fractions of seconds then it mere collapses. thats why you need something faster than light to travel through it

Can a Match Light on Earth is the same as with Can The Sun Light in Space.

what is this? All i've heard was chatters in the background. Is this a joke?

1054 A.D is the date you're looking for in reference to the Crab Nebula. Great video though! I would be very happy to have you as a professor. You seem very excited in comparison to my prof and you have an ability to relate the principles behind these extreme physics in such a way that virtually anybody could understand.

Thanks for the free lesson, very interesting, but could you tune your voice before posting the video? at some point you seem to scream and at another I can barely hear you, really annoying. I'm really into Astronomy, I'd like a degree on it but there is none in my Country, if you could recommend how can I seriously study Astronomy online would be great.
-
loving the lessons, long intro gives me enough time to build a smoke ready
-
So interesting, wish I was studying astronomy
-
u can fill in the rest of that periodic table 32:00 cuz the final element ununseptium was amde 4 days ago ^^
-
don't make the mistake of trying to rewind this thing to listen to something you missed... there seems to be very few spots you can rewind or advance the video to, so you'll have to listen to a lot more stuff over again than you intended.
-
great man.. thanks for posting

This isnt Evolution, its a life cycle. I start out small get bigger and gradually over time shrink.
