Astronomy for Astrologers, Part 4
About | Information | History | Online | Facts | Discovery
Explanation of the astronomical foundations of astrology. This tutorial video was designed for astrologers but anyone interested in an introduction to positional astronomy may find this video helpful. In this video we learn (1) how to estimate the zodiac longitude and zodiac sign of a planet from its position in the sky, (2) what the latitude of a planet is, (3) what declination arcs and why planets with the same declination are referred to as a "parallel of declination", and (4) what the Prime Vertical and vertex are. The Sirius 1.3 astrology software is used to demonstrate the c concepts. Sirius is created by Cosmic Patterns Software. The company website is http://www.AstroSoftware.com

Namaste, Good.explanation but a bit lengthy some points are repeated too many times. We in India consider the precision in calculating the general equinox. Which is "Nirayan" system. for 1-1-16 it was 24 degrees 04 minutes 49 seconds approx

Thank you for your time and effort to present a lot of info in a comfortable presentation. Yes, I watched all 4 videos in sequence. I enjoyed the relaxed personableness of your conversational style, and more importantly, I learned much.

Really wonderful, David. This four-part "tour d'horizon" (so to speak) really makes the seemingly abstract very clear.
It would help me to see more - on the map - relating to the where the Prime Vertical is, and also Right Ascension vis-a-vis declination.
Also, I just bought Sirius 2.0, but I do not seem to have the drop-down menu keyed to my open charts - like you seem to have in these examples (e.g., Madonna's chart). In fact, I do not have a drop-down menu there at all.
Am I missing something? How do I get the map with the drop-down menu keyed to my open charts?
And thanks again for all these really wonderful videos!
