Join +Fraser Cain and +Pamela Gay for a live episode of Astronomy Cast. We'll record our 30-minute show, and then stay tuned for them to answer questions! Astronomy Cast Ep. 407: Galactic Cannibalism Remember when we told you that the Universe is a big place, and anything that can go wrong, inevitably does? Today we talk about what happens when galaxies come together. This is particularly pertinent because our Milky Way will collide with Andromeda in the future!

Galaxies are made mainly of empty space, and of course stars, black holes, dark matter, etc.
So when Andromeda "collides" with the Milky Way, we will simply merge, and chances are we will personally not be harmed by the merger. We will just acquire new neighbors. Correct? -
