About | Information | History | Online | Facts | Discovery
Join +Fraser Cain and +Pamela Gay for a live episode of Astronomy Cast. We'll record our 30-minute show, and then stay tuned for another episode today! Ep. 391: Entropy Have you ever been doing thermodynamics in a closed system and noticed that there’s a finite number of ways that things can be arranged, and they tend towards disorder? Of course you have, we all have. That’s entropy. And here in our Universe, entropy is on the rise. Let’s learn about entropy in its specific, thermodynamic ways, and then figure out what this means for the future of the Universe.

I wonder if you could give me the telephone number of your microphone adviser...
Since watching your show I noticed you and Pamela going through a number of mics, becoming more and more fancy and big.
haha, no just kidding! -
"...And then Kronos chopped off his father's balls, the end. Sweet dreams, dear listeners." Yeh, I'd totally pay money to hear Pamela say that.
I personally love listening to podcasts - including Astronomy Cast - while driving around in Euro Truck Simulator 2. -
Ive been noticing that things are very differntbin the skies lately.
Ive always been int ER ested in astronimy and Ivevwatched thevstard my whole life.
Ive been out every night for the last eight days and Ive seen some rhings I cant ecplain. I have no history of hallucinations. Im not on drugs, but Ive seen somevreally syrange things. Im aware ofvthe kaws of physics and Im pretty smart. I understand how satelites work. What they can and cannot do. Etc. Etc.
I live up in Gloucester MA. the last two nights Ive taken notive of the relative position of one star in particular. Ive actually, forvtwo niggts now have been able to triangulate it's distance by walking one mike, relative to a distantvstar hanging above it. Walking one mile, Im able to get it to move "1/2" an inch at 20" from my eyeball.
Some rough cross multuplication and I cime up with: This "star" is 40 mules away.
Im not joking and there is more than one. (Like a real lot more than one)
Pan I believe tou live in the Boston erea. Please go out and do some eyeball observations.
Ive watched these "stars" gly into possituon like a jet at cruising altitude and come to avdead stop and sit there like a very bright star all night long. (????)
I believe most of these things are over the Atlantic up in this erea
I know how crazy this sounds. I truly do, but I also know myself andvwhat Ive been seeing. Please spend some time and observe with your eyes.
I showed one to a group of teenagers on the beach last night.
I said to them. "Look at that star" " does it not look green?" They agreed that it was green, and shruged it iff as a green star. "I said: "look at it, it moves" we looked at it and practicalky did a dance for us. They agreed that it moves. Wow cool! "Oh gotta go, the Kardashians are coming on" (just kidding) Just kidding but thats the kind of teactiins I get. I can show people these things and they dontbunderstand enough to ask critical questions.
I can predict that someonevteadingvthis is going to want to say. "Well, humidity and atmosperic pressure and blah blah blah". Okay I get that but how cime the stars next to the green stars dont appear to dance at the same time? And why arent they green as well? -
I enjoy your podcast.
Im not very tech. davy these days.
I dont do Twitter, but Id like to message either of you. It's on the question. "Where are they?" -
"Thermal death" - is what my thermo prof called it.

As always, great show! This was my first time catching it live!
Just when I get my work schedule changed around allowing me Mondays off, you plan the next episode on a Tuesday. LOL
I would love to join you in 2017 for the eclipse. I will probably have a large group with me.
Anyways, stay awesome!
