From the video archives, here is an interview with Angela Cartwright from 'The Hart File'/Entertainment Tonight show's Mary Hart from back on May 24,1991. Angela talks about her television and movie career, and her gift shop [Rubber Boots] which at that time was located in a Los Angeles suburb. A nice trip down memory lane. I visited that gift shop when I was in the area and enjoyed browsing and purchasing cool trinkets - she had it filled with wonderful things and hard to find items; remember, this being just prior to the Internet commercialization in the mid 90s, it was much harder then to find rare items and the purchasing prowess of a gift shop owner was paramount... Angela was THE BEST at finding cool things!! Angela has two (TWO!!) new media projects (books) available to fans of Lost in Space [LIS] and of Hollywood movie making/fans of the Sound Of Music; there is also a new LIS BlueRay disc release (more details on that just below near the end of this note). Both 'The Sound of Music' and 'Lost in Space' are celebrating their 50th anniversaries this year. For those interested in great coffee table books about the Hollywood industry, Angela and actor Tom McLaren have co-authored a recent book entitled - "Styling the Stars: Lost Treasures From the Twentieth Century Fox Archive" The book covers the studio from the 1930s to the early 1970s and features many of the studio's 'continuity' photographs - photos taken once the actors were camera-ready to ensure their clothes and makeup were correct and consistent during the filming of movies. Photos in the book include Marilyn Monroe (Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend), Cary Grant (An Affair to Remember), Ann-Margret (The Pleasure Seekers), Frank Sinatra (Lady in Cement) and Dean Martin and Cyd Charisse (Something's Got to Give), as well as others of Paul Newman, Marlon Brando and Doris Day, and of course, lots of cool continuity photos from the movie 'The Sound of Music'. A fascinating book and look at one aspect of the behind the scenes process at Fox Studios. Angela found these many photos when she was at the Fox archives in Century City, looking for pictures for her 2011 book - "The Sound of Music Scrapbook" that she assembled with the other child actors from that movie. Another really terrific coffee table book. Both books available online or at local B&N stores via order. For fans of Lost In Space, there is a new BlueRay edition of the series being released in time to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the show's debut on CBS television back in the fall of 1965 (Sept. 15, 1965.) There is a nice recent LIS cast reunion and interviews included in this new BlueRay deluxe edition release. And... Angela has teamed up with LIS co-star Billy Mumy and released a new book to celebrate Lost In Space's 50th Anniversary. The book is entitled "Lost (and Found) in Space", and features memories and rare photographs. A terrific book and great read with incredible photos! 1965 was indeed, a very good year. Enjoy this trip down memory lane and these new media products available online and at B&N stores. Happy Birthday Angela!
