i have tried for the life of me to get this cam to work on stars, not sure if its a focusing issue but i can use it during the day time with the scope and the lens removed, focusing on the furthest thing i can see about 75-100 meters from me, great focus and great pictur, for the life of me i can not get it to work on planets, i have 2 scopes a 6inch dob and a 5.1inch nute on a eq mount and i cant get anything othere than a black screen, what capture software did you use?
thanks -
Can the VX 6000 be modified in the same way?

Excellent video. Thank you. I've ordered the webcam from Amazon and look forward to using it. Only one left when I ordered.

Useful video this, i watched it, then promptly brought the same camera for my 200mm Reflector. Made the modification, which is sooooo easy. I have a question - I used the prime focus method by inserting it directly into the 1.25" fitting and was surprised at the level of magnification. I then made an adaptor so that i could try the eye piece projection method, but couldn't get an image. Do you have any suggestions regarding this method?

Like a short ASMR video. A good idea.

i can´t believe it, amazing!

You'll need to remove the lens. The problem is then adapting other webcams to fit in the eyepiece holder. Some companies offer adapters for some of the more commonly used webcams
-
can you do the same modification with other webcams or are they all different?

Thanks for the comment and good luck

Typical find this vid after the best night i have had viewing saturn (did not take out the cams lens so blurry pics), many thanks for the vid will try again tonight

the chip size is small so you really need to centre your star or planet accurately. Then focus, the focus point is usually further than you expect. Try it on the moon first because you can't miss it and see where the focus point is.
