Is this the guy who claims that a large 2 plus another large 2 equals 5?
he is really dumb lol -
what he is presenting is not tested science. It’s a philosophical speculation, which he apparently believes is so compelling he does not have to give any specification of evidence that would confirm it is true. Well, you can’t get any evidence about what existed before space and time came into being. Above all he believes that these mathematically based speculations solve thousand year old philosophical conundrums, without seriously engaging those philosophical issues. The belief that all of reality can be fully comprehended in terms of physics and the equations of physics is a fantasy. As pointed out so well by Eddington in his Gifford lectures,

It is stupid thinking who created the creator, or take it as a point against believers. atheists decided to stop where physics laws rise, believers decided to stop where a creator heterogeneous not part of his creation and doesn't directly interact with them, doesn't have shape or volume, not from matter, or energy and exists everywhere. He created the universe and the laws that manages the universe, whether physics laws or any other laws. atheists can see the creation through the physics rules and scientific papers they make that most of them go useless, believers, can see the creation from what coincide with the creation told by the creator, and the timeline of creation and it's end, as told by the creator in his holy books.

So...Jesus caused the big bang?
-
(response to religious creatard)
There is such thing as nothing, nothing cannot exist by the very definition of the word.
So that means something must always exist, but it has to be timeless and infinite. What fits that description?
Energy, the entire universe is made from it. It cannot be created or destroyed. In its purest form it is timeless as time is just a word we use to describe the entropy of matter. If all you have is energy and no matter you have no time, no before, no after.
So your original question is flawed, we do not come from nothing but we do come from energy, how did the matter that makes up the universe begin? It must of been an event that has no antecedent cause, there are events in nature that have no prior cause, they are quantum fluctuations, so it was a quantum fluctuation of an portion of an infinite field of timeless energy, this event we know of as a big bang.
Welcome to the modern understanding of the universe, you can now leave the bronze age musings of illiterate goat herders behind. -
In the end nothing is everything and we dont need god - its rather infinite nothingness than infinite creator or in fact nothing never exist i cant see any empiric evidence that nothing exist like the theologians imagine it - i cant imagine nothing - its always something even if you call it nothing - it still is!Even in mathematics infinity divide with nothing or 0 is equal to infinity , so from all religions only Lao Tzu understand reality of nothingness and call it Tao !

so much wonderful information. but he didn't need 224 pages to say 'i don't know'. science is great and i wish these guys well in their understanding of nature, but i don't understand why they cant accept that something far more advanced than us MAY have designed the cosmos, this possibility does not in any way stop science from going on with its business. its just so childish to take sides, no one knows, its equally childish to say 'i know there is nothing because i am smart' as it is to say 'i know there is something because i have faith'. i think religious groups and scientific communities have a lot on common, they both have this peer pressure thing going on. all these atheists seem to love to get together and talk about god and how there isn't one and write books to show their friends how cool and clever they are, not much different than spiritual groups getting together to share their biblical memorizing skills or exchange healing chakra crystals and discuss psychedelic trips. no one knows, and getting to quarks or distant galaxies and understanding gravity doesn't in any way make existence less mysterious, it makes it MORE mysterious, clearly the whole thing is some kind of miracle beyond our comprehension, we all got to deal with it. god-machine-alien-bio-spirits within god-machine-alien-bio-spirits within god-machine-alien-bio-spirits, going on forever, and we are just monkeys, its "stranger than we suppose, and stranger than we CAN suppose".

I worked with a Belgian girl for years...wonderful person, just unfamiliar with our slang. Result=hilarious!

He has a great mind, I find it both intoxicatingly accessible to a normal non scientist like myself and his many one liners delivered brilliantly very good listen/ read depending on how you want to look at it.

"It's not that Belgians are strange, you just rarely meet them". Awesome line.
