Hip-hop is art. This album proved that. Nobody who heard it was untouched. It changed everything after it. One of the most brilliant albums ever made. It showed that anything was possible. The boundaries of music were pushed further because of it. The only record that can be compared to it is "Seargant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" by the Beatles. Which is widely accepted as the greatest record ever made. This is Hip-hop's answer to that masterpiece. This is our masterpiece.

one of the best hip hop albums to date

This is A Tribe Called Quest's most popular album. When they released this they were officially apart of the "In-Crowd", and one of them main rap groups at the time. Their first album Peoples Instinctive Travels... they were bonafide "weirdo's", underated, but still dope. Their most anticipated album was their fourth album "Beats Rhymes and Life" - this was mainly because of the overall $uccess of their third album "Midnight Marauders". Midnight Marauders was in my opinion their best album from the lyrics, to the production, and even spotlight shared between Phife and Q-tip; Nonetheless they were slightly overshadowed at the time of it's release by other acts like "Dr Dre's The Chronic followed by Snoop Doggy Dogg's debut Doggystyle, and the swarm of the killa bees Wu-Tang Clan first coming on the scene....you had 2pac album with "I get around, Keep Ya Head Up etc." and some other. This is why Midnight Marauders their third album did not get that same "In Crowd" status like this album The Low End Theory received. What I'm saying is, this album was one of the main albums in the streets at the time of it's release (socially), and Midnight Marauders was a better album (musically), but not one of the main albums in the streets at the time of it's release (socially). I love this album.
