A Habitable Planet Orbiting Nearest Star Proxima Centauri Found

Scientists discover Earth-like planet Proxima b :Does the nearest star to our solar system host worlds of its own? 2016 could be the year we find out, as the nearby red dwarf star Proxima Centauri gets scrutinized by astronomers in unprecedented detail using a variety of search methods. One of the most exciting is the Pale Red Dot initiative. Led by the European Southern Observatory (ESO) scientists, Pale Red Dot is a public campaign to examine Proxima Centauri for exoplanets using the radial velocity method, which looks to tease out the signal of an orbiting planet tugging on its host star. 51 Pegasi – the first exoplanet discovered orbiting a Sun-like star in 1995 – was discovered using this method, and hundreds of discoveries that followed.

If Proxima Centauri B turns out to be a water world, as has recently been posited, what a fun time that would be. Imagine surfing on giant waves and swimming among the tall black sea plants under the dim fixed red sun with the psychic purple dolphins.

but if you get to the speed of light on a ship and walk forward you are going back on your self . not only mind bending I know , but that's time travel .but ill never say impossible after some of the things I have seen .

It is not the time to comment.

Only stupid comments for a serious and interesting subject.

Okay so I searched this up on the internet but 1 light year is equivalent to 10,108 years on earth. I'm mind blown that's fricken insane
-
It's a red dwarf so wouldn't we be engulfed by the star really soon? It's best we stay on earth because we will have a lot longer to be alive here than there
-
If there is an earth-like planet 4 light years from Earth, then the law of averages says that in our galaxy alone there are 10 billion earth-like worlds.

What it this for planet

Efren Bata Reyes could surely get as there pretty fast

what about sending a probe that could send us pictures of this new solar system? and its planets?. It would take 15 years? That would be awesome.

Let's spread Herpes on this planet

ok the fastest human made object went 157000 miles an hour I think sling shot around earth what ever. if we could go 500,000 miles an hour it would take about 5800 years to get to there . if there is aliens out there they cant get to us either. forget worm holes or warp drives fiction. Dark matter that's the only way . because we can't see it doesn't mean its not there . we can't see the wind but you know its there.

25,000000000000 miles away forget about it even if there's life there and there more advanced than us its toooo far away I'll do the maths

Is it that hard to find a real human to narrate this video?
I'm resisting the urge to give it a thumbs-down because this is a fascinating subject. -
There is far too much guess work when it comes to space science, we will know for sure when humans actually go to the Alpha Centauri system, sometime in the future. At the moment so much money is being spent poking around on Mars hoping to find life. It would be better to put every effort now for a manned mission to the planet to get answers once and for all.

So that is where we can find the Jupiter 2?

more bullshit to get more funding from sheeps. you know where the funding goes? right into their bank account. World is a lie, only money is real. earth is flat.
